In the current BBC production of War & Peace, the general is shown wearing a white cap with a red band.

Would this have been his usual headwear, rather than a bicorne?

If I remember Kutuzov wore the white cap out of preference (probably a Cuirassier undress cap) though his official headgear would have been bicorne with lots of spangly bits. maybe a bit like Monty with his beret – comfy and distinguished him from the other Generals?

He is usually shown wearing the forage cap rather than a bicorne. Most figures, including the Perrys, depict this.

Kutuzov haved headwound, forage cap was more comfortable for him than heavier and clumsy bicorne. Before wounding he wear bicornes.

one can see other Russian officers also wearing this white cap

Many thanks.

Time to get the snips and Milliput out.

To be fair, he also wore a bicorne in the episode that covered 1805.

I think I will end up with one for each period.
