Years ago, in my school days, I had a nice little collection of Airfix and Matchbox vehicles and figures for doing skirmishes on the Russian Front in winter. I have a hankering to recreate this but in 15mm. Vehicles at no problem, but I'm looking for recommendations for Russian and German figures in winter clothing. Any suggestions? |

Peter Pig do both Germans and Russians in winter gear. |

Battlefront's Germans in greatcoats are first class, haven't seen their winter Russians I'm afraid. |

Peter Pig then Battlefront (in my case with PP heads as they have faces and detail!). Later FoW germans in winter gear seemed pretty nice. |

I got some Old Glory jacketed Germans, which were decent if unexceptional. |

The Peter Pig Russians in overcoats are brilliant, some of my favorites. The best thing is they are all charging – Enemy at the Gates had just come out and obviously the opening charge was the inspiration. The downside is the limited number of packs available – no mortars or gun crews or other specialists. I've recently been working around this with Legions East figures with head-swaps, and now the BF early-war Soviets in overcoats, also with PP heads. |

I also mix PP with BF using PP heads … Apologies for sharing these again but with a little bit of ingenuity you can fill a lot of the potential gaps …
Martin has been talking about doing some new Russians … maybe Scouts … now if these had coveralls they could easily white up for winter troops … And I do like some of the BF Finns … Phil P.B.Eye-Candy |
