If you were going to take the historical Gauls of Europe, and make a fantasy army out of them, what would you add that would be appropriate to Gauls? Druids as spellcasters nature spirits (lakes, streams, mountains) boars (or wereboars?) floating decapitated heads? |

I remember Black Tree Design made several sets of Orcs in Celtic equipment and dress. Alternative armies had elves in Celtic gear the Sidhe. They also had a lot of beasties and heroes from Celtic mythology |

Probably snakes, the god Cernunnos is associated with ram horned snakes and the god Toutatis is often linked to the Roman god Mercury with his staff with entwined snakes. |

They used a few chariots, and you can do a lot with chariots. First you include ten times as many as historically supportable, then have them pulled by fantastic creatures. |

+1 Prince Rupert of the Rhine. I actually have some Asterix 28mm figures, unpainted, along with most of my lead mountain. Ahem. |

Treemen/greenmen (ogre-analogues) the 'Wild Hunt' (spectral huntsman and pack of hounds) Banshees (morale penalty to the opponent) the 'half-dead' (zombies under Druid control) and a couple of ogres to represent warriors having a 'warp-spasm'. And Ainsty casting's Whicker Man for your captives! |
