I noticed this afternoon that the long-awaited Baccus 6mm WW2 infantry have begun to arrive: baccus6mm.com/news and link

They look very nice indeed. Any Russians on the horizon?

Gosh, news travels fast round here. I've not even got around to doing the 'official' announcements.

We're concentrating on Western front first. Believe me, there's quite enough to keep us busy there. Once we have that under our belts then we'll be looking eastwards.

We're concentrating on Western front first. …

Not meaning to tell you your business, but if I might offer some input as a potential customer…

I know that the biggest volume is in the bog-standard troops, but there are already several other companies producing infantry for the western and eastern fronts.

As a new entrant to this particular corner of the market, you might find faster pick-up in your products if you choose some infantry that are not offered by the competition.

There were many specialist troops that were active in WW2. And wargamers tend to be fascinated with collecting and gaming with miniatures that are odd or unique.

Some suggestions of troops that have not been done and done and done again in 6mm:

- British commandos
- Italian Alpini
- Italian Askaris
- French Foreign Legion
- French Algerian or Moroccan Ghoumiers
- French Algerian or Senegalese Tirailleurs
- Soviet naval infantry (yes I know, no eastern front …YET)
- Worker's militia (could be generic for Soviet, French, or ?)
- Chinese Nationalist infantry
- Chinese Communist infantry

There were also several WW2 cavalry arms that are not well represented in 6mm. Borrowing from the very useful Baccus approach to cavalry from other periods, even WW2 motorcycle troops could be popular, I expect, if they came in both mounted and dis-mounted sets (with parked motorcycles). I for one would be a customer for several forces of motorcycle troops:

- Italian
- French
- Soviet
- Romanian

Just some thoughts. Consider or disregard at your discretion.

Nice! I know a bunch of members of our game club have been anticipating these. Excited to pick some up and get gaming company level actions.

Do the packs have LMGs?

Baccus 6mm01 Feb 2016 4:44 p.m. PST

Mark,

Thank you for your input. I know where you are coming from, but it's not how we work. We may well end up doing all you have suggested, but these will be add-ons to a good, solid core range.

It reminds me of the sort of comments that I got when I released my first Ancients ranges many years ago. I was told then that as existing companies already did Imperial Roman legionaries I shouldn't bother with them, and instead do all the things that weren't done – Dromedarii were mentioned as I recall. Well, since then, we've sold an awful lot of legionaries, but I've yet to have many requests for camel riders…

Pizzagrenadier,

no LMGs etc. yet. They will be along very shortly in the next wave of releases. There's a lot of stuff in the pipeline.

Pizzagrenadier01 Feb 2016 5:21 p.m. PST

Excellent! Thanks Baccus. Looking forward to them.

I suspect cost of molds and masters make the unusual topics unprofitable even in the long run.

Baccus stuff has a unique style which some prefer [I was always happiest with H&R] so by getting the basics out they will establish a solid base from which they may branch out.

Peter, will you be doing Armour Artillery and other vehicles to match the figures ?

Baccus 6mm02 Feb 2016 2:45 a.m. PST

Yes, artillery are already underway and we are working on armour and vehicles to follow.

normsmith02 Feb 2016 3:16 a.m. PST

It is knowing that Baccus will be doing full ranges that is most likely to tempt me towards 6mm WWII. Those figures look very nice, can't wait to see what you do with vehicles.

John Secker06 Feb 2016 1:26 p.m. PST

Well on the vehicles he has promised to wean me off my GHQ habit, so I am looking forward to those very much.

These figures fit very well with the newer H/R figures. The BACCUS figures really do look fantastic i will order what ever they release!.
