I'm contemplating taking a job in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and am wondering what the "scene," if any, is like in Memphis (which is just over an hour away). |

When I lived ther over 30 years ago was a good gaming town. Check Millington and Germantown now. |

Tim, I am sorry that you are having to leave the mountains to head for that God-forsaken flat country. I hope you are able to find some gaming opportunities in Memphis. If not, you might also try Little Rock. It is a little farther, but it is another option. That said, gaming wise, your move might be a good thing. It was very difficult to find people to wargame with when I lived in Arkansas (I have lived in both the north west part of the state and the south east part of the state). Now that I live in Oklahoma it is easy to find people to wargame with. The trouble now is finding the time to game. Good luck with your move, Kevin |

Thanks Kevin. It's not quite as bleak as all that! I still have options in Northwest Arkansas-just trying to weigh my options. Thanks for the feedback, guys. |

And a little further south, we have a consistent group in Jackson, MS jacksongamers.net We even have a gamer from southeast Arkansas who drives down here for games. Jim |

Jonesboro, my home town. I've been away for 15 years now but Arkansas State tends to have an active gaming group. Mid-south Hobby and games carries a large random selection of games in Memphis. Shame your not closer to Oxford we need a new member in our little group. Oh and since J-town is no longer dry it finally has some good restaurants. |

Jonesboro recently has a new gaming store open, mostly cards and board games, but miniatures gamers play there, too. Mostly Warhammer, but Flames of War and other historical minis as well. A few of us recently had one of our big Napoleonic's bashes you can check out here: m1tankrider.blogspot.com Cullison's Cards & Games is the store's name, and they do have a Facebook page. There is a gaming club in Jonesboro called the NEA Gamer's Guild, also with a Facebook page, and some of us play miniatures. People from the group meet a couple of times a week at Cullison's, the ASU Library, or at the Craighead County Library for events. A store called The Game Store in Jacksonville, AR, a couple of hours south has an active miniatures gaming group with mainly Flames of War in the historical side. Midsouth Hobbies & Games in Memphis has a gaming area for miniatures. You'll find Bolt Action, Flames of War, and sometimes Napoleonics played there. I live in Jonesboro and am available to game most weekends. If you end up in town holler. I will be happy to show you the local scene and maybe get to throw some dice with you once in a while. I can be reached at tankrider@aol.com Charlie Clay |
