I realize most use 6mm for gaming, so action figures are the norm. Does anyone know of figures in this scale in more casual poses, such as troops simply walking in loose formation, or standing around relaxing, talking, etc..? Just thinking a crazy idea to so a couple of similar diorama scenes in different scales. Thanks Jim |

Easy enough to make I think? Use officers, observers, excess artillery crew and "re-pose" the arms etc? |

Irregular do some civilians and 'vignette' type figures. Baccus do 'pioneer/sapper' type figures for several periods that would probably work. The First World War range has HQ sets with guys sitting and standing around. Look at accessories like wagons and stuff. Some figures may be included. |

Try looking around Shapeways. You should always try looking around Shapeways – there's new stuff all the time. You can also look at People Scale. I notice you have to pick a scale slightly too tall (1/240), but their castings tend to be thinner than typical wargaming figures, and soldiers and civilians probably won't be mixed on a stand anyway. Also look at Microform Models, another architectural model supplier. They actually do have a few civilian figures in 1/300, and also some furniture and cars to go with them. - Ix |

Irregular also do various HQ, sapper and porter types. I find artillery crews very easy to convert into other roles too. |

I think PFC C-in-C infantry sets used to come with a quantity of soldiers marching with slung rifles. Don't know if they still do, but they did when I bought infantry from them many years ago. Most GHQ individual infantry kits and H&R infantry sets include a pose of a soldier tossing a grenade. I find these figures very useful for easy kit-bashing. Clip off the grenade (if a stick grenade), and the rifle (if held in the other hand), and bend the arms with tweezers, and you have a soldier doing just about anything you want a soldier posed to do. GHQ artillery crew sets come with many soldiers in uniform, with empty hands and arms in various positions. Very useful for miscellaneous poses. GHQ armored infantry (US) and Panzergrenadier (German) sets come with individual seated figures and crouching MG gunner figures, which are also easily re-purposed. While I've never done a diorama, my infantry forces often include re-purposed figures for HQs, commo teams, medical teams, tank hunters, etc. -Mark (aka: Mk 1) |

I would look at Shapeways a lot more if it had a better search facility. Is it me, or is it just very difficult to impossible to narrow down a sensible search? |
