Hey Mr. Barrett! Are you planning on expanding your 1/1200 scale ACW ship/boat range? I love your work (I am the chap who defended some misrepresentation of Thoroughbred in The Zouave lo these many years ago and who also bought that excellent Martello Tower of yours), but 1/600 scale, while I do have a few, are a bit too large for me (plus my friends have every 1/600 scale ship/boat out there). The current offerings you have in 1/1200 don't really "fit" in terms of historical battles, so I am hoping you are going to push on with this and add more ships that match up against what you already produce. Thoughts? Comments? Thanks! |

I'm here Daryl,,,,,but 'Mr. Barrett' has left the building. 'Toby' is what I prefer although my wife has an entire range of names for me. And thank you for your kind remarks re my work. You will need to remind me of the Zouave affair. I remember the magazine but not sure about the misrepresentation matter. To offer an answer you your question re 1/1200. I have six more coming out shortly – and hopefully. CSS Virginia, CSS Arkansas, CSS Richmond class, CSS Neuse, USS Neosho/Osage and USS Canonicus class. Some of these will fulfill the more historical aspect along with what is already out: 2 versions of USS Monitor, Cairo class, Passaic class, CSS Atlanta, CSS Albemarle, CSS Tennessee and a larger 'Improved' version of Albemarle that was almost ready by wars end but was burned on her stocks in North Carolina at the approach of Sherman's army in the early spring of 1865. I will produce more in this scale but exactly what vessels and how deep we go into this scale remains to be seen. I have not really started to market the new items yet with photos etc.,,,,but that was just because of the small number of releases. I am working with a few new entities in this endeavor so I'm getting a feel for some new techniques and procedures. Take good care and thanks again, Toby Barrett Thoroughbred Figures |

Thanks for the update, Toby! I am leaning towards the brown water navy so the Cairo class, the Arkansas, and the Neosho/Osage are great fits. The Zouave affair was a review in which the reviewer mentioned your ships were priced too high for gaming and therefore not usable…he was quoting the old mounted on a wooden base for display prices. I wrote a letter to the editor correcting that error, and you were kind enough to send me two ships as thanks…completely unexpected and highly appreciated! ;) I think then I will send you a separate email and order a couple of Cairos…a fave of mine. |

This has caught my interest (Ooh! Shiny!). Any photos of the 1/1200 ships? (Daryl?) Your 1/600 ships are tremendous! |

I have not seen any pics myself, but if they are simply smaller versions of the 1/600 scale vessels Toby makes, they will be gems! |
