Were all the side skirts of Russian tanks rubber circa 85ish, or just that particular T72? |

I suppose it depends on the location. In Karelia, where I spent my army years the skirts might create problems in winter time and spring/autumn where there's plenty of dirt and mud. Never seen the skirts like this…may be this tank represents T-72 in first Chechen war where all kind of improvised defences were used… On a side note – interesting that many museums are displaying Kalashnikovs with orange magazines. These were used only in the garrisons for parades, trainings and some time for guard duies (guarding banners, etc). Normally magazine will be plain dark metal…. |
