I see several rules for Weird War II. I currently have Battlerground WWII with some mods for Weird War. I also have "Nuts" War Without End. I have browsed through Gear Krieg I have used Savage Worlds for other settings, and I know they have one for Weird War II. So I have a couple of questions… 1. What rules would you say are best? 2. Do they require other products? (NutsWWE requires Nuts) I'm looking for skirmish rules. 1 platoon or so with some support vehicles and weapons, but playable down to a squad with some heroes. I would love to be able to play some larger fights at times too. |

Also, if scale makes any difference, I really prefer 15mm. I love a lot of the stuff for 28mm, but vehicles are expensive, and it looks odd if you don't have a massive gaming table. |

I only own DUST for this genre and I've really enjoyed my games of DUST Warfare . Although it seems to have lost allot of fans out there of late with big "bust up " . The game does require one to use allot of their bits and pieces to make it work well ( including their dice ) but can be added to with a bit of ingenuity . A good game that I still play now and then but it only appeals to a few people around here . cheers Tom |

AE-WW II is my all time favorite. Great system and incredible models, plus the figure count for a good game is pretty low. You don't really ever field a full platoon-- the game is set up with 3 or 4 man "units", with a lot of single models as well. I think there are two books total with all the rules and additions. |

I vote for NUTS! War Without End -- but then I'm biased since I wrote it Btw, there are some free supplements for those rules on the Yahoo Group in the "Official Files or NUTS: WWE -- a DIY vehicle design kit, unofficial DUST and Mekatank conversions, etc. link The NUTS book actually came out of BGWW2 Weird War game materials I worked on with Brian Cotrell who maintains the BGWW2 Weird War site: weirdwwii.com We tried to get the rights to the BGWW2 rules, but they were stuck in legal limbo between the authors so I ended up doing the book for the NUTS system, at least for Weird Tech and Zeds. |

Our group plays Bolt Action regularly, which is a platoon or two a side. One of our members has us demo Weird War scenarios a couple times a year, that then go to conventions. Most of the rule adaptations are just slight inflations of ability. Some creatures act like armored vehicles, or can carry weapons equivalent to autocannons, etc. Some figures have scenario specific rules. "Heroes" are generally single models that act much like Bolt Action command units or small teams, that might have a one-use special rule. So the look and feel is Weird War, but the mechanics of Bolt Action work quite well. Having someone act as an arbitrator to reasonably solve problems that emerge is useful. Bolt Action already has a bit of a Hollywood feel to the stories that emerge I feel. |

DUST Tactics. Though I've used the Savage Worlds "Weird War II" book too. |

Brink of Battle has a Core Rule Book and a supplement which has fantasy elements which can be used for Weird War 2. I've played World War 2 with it but not Weird War 2. Check it out. They also have a Facebook page where you can join and ask questions if you're curious. |

I'm probably the odd man out here, but I am a HotT player so those are the rules I use. For me they have worked very well and provided fun armies to build, small in size so I can do several and great to play. Terry |

+1 for Brink of Battle if you are looking for Squad level games, for platoon level games I've used Secrets of the Third Reich and a simple house rule adaptation to use Disposable Heroes.. cheers.. Francisco |

Dust – a bit of a leaning to Battlefield over Warfare but both are good. |

My favourites are (in order) I Ain't Been Shot Mum Chain of Command Flames of War TAC: WW2 (but only the command and movement bits, I don't like the combat rules). I've dabbled with Bolt Action and Panzergrenadier and they're both OK but they don't break into my top list. I'd like to try Battlegroup one of these days. Every set of WW2 rules needs supplements it appears. |

I have not played in a while, but my favorite was always Westwind's Secrets of the Third Reich. SOTR has superscience, zombies, and magic all in one package. They have their own line of 28mm miniatures for Americans, British, Germans and Soviets, although the only vehicles are a handful of Walkers. |
