A kinda uniqe and "useless" regiment to paint, only usefull for 3 real battles in 1813, not really seen before or after. Usefull for any "what if" battles in 1813.

I got really tired of all the blue by the end…

Very nice looking.
What figures are they?

The Marine Artillery Regiments were some of the better units in the Army and fought in the 1814 campaign as well.

They are calpe

Just used elite company figures to get the epiltes.

The Naval Artillery Units were the elite of the Imperial Navy and not only supplied four big infantry regiments to Marmont's VI Corps, but also supplied artillerymen to help rebuild the Guard artillery as well as supplying engineers to the army.

The contribution of the naval personnel to the Grande Armee throughout its existence, not just in 1813-1814 is substantive and their expertise and professionalism in 1809 with the Army of Germany ensured the success of Napoleon's second Danube crossing.

That's what I call painting ! And you better paint well on Calpe figures , they deserve it.

I have a bunch of these guys too -- got them for Lutzen/Bautzen project that I never ended up fighting. I find they make great fill-ins for French allies that I don't have the actual troops for -- Wurtemburgers, Saxons, Poles, you name it, they've subbed in for it.
But I know what you are saying about all that blue…

Actually they make a credible stand-in for converged grenadier battalions.

Thanks guys.

Tho I'm bored as hell with blue I might try and force my self to do the 2nd battalion, it's only 18 figure strong so should be easy enough.

Bonjour,

I like these a lot and have just been reading about Mockern so am very receptive to the idea of having a battalion or two.

I'm a fan of Calpe figures too!

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Paul

Can they not serve as middle guard?
