I've seen a couple of those, the Memphis Belle many times (own a VHS and DVD copy). The cockpit chatter is fascinating, and the B-17 breaking up is harrowing stuff, hard to believe a machine can move so unnaturally. |

Battle of San Pietro taken down for multiple copyright infringement complaints? It was made by the U.S. Army! It's automatically public domain. How do you complain to YouTube that a copyright complaint is bogus? |

I recently watche " Battlegroup Bastogne". Not on the list and made after the war, but many of the actors had battle experience. It's a gritty film, telling of the Ardennes campaign at the level of the squaddies. I'll have to try and put together a list of British films from that period, there were some great ones. |

Battle of San Pietro taken down for multiple copyright infringement complaints? It was made by the U.S. Army! It's automatically public domain. What the notice says is: "The YouTube account associated with this video has been terminated due to multiple third-party notifications of copyright infringement." In other words the poster had posted other videos that violated copyright and he got nuked. Perhaps 'Battle of San Pietro' has been posted by another YouTube account. Duncan |
Aurochs | 28 Jan 2016 3:48 a.m. PST |
My favourite movie is Decision before Dawn. link
Filmed in postwar Germany. |
Corporal Steiner | 28 Jan 2016 6:28 a.m. PST |
Are there any other hidden gems from other nations perspectives (as well as just from the US side of things) members can think of as well? |
ColCampbell | 28 Jan 2016 8:35 a.m. PST |
While looking at Aurochs' link, I noticed "Go for Broke" about the 442 RCT. Don't think I've ever heard about that movie. link But definitely heard about the 442 RCT. They even trained here in Mississippi at Camp Shelby. Jim |
Sigwald | 28 Jan 2016 8:54 a.m. PST |
They showed us the battle of San Pietro in basic training or AIT I can't remember which. It is still on youtube as Duncan surmised: YouTube link |
Mister Tibbles | 28 Jan 2016 10:09 a.m. PST |
I would add Night Train to Munich. A cool thriller from 1940. "When Germany invades Czechoslovakia, the German and the British intelligence services try to capture Czech scientist Axel Bomasch, inventor of a new type of armor-plating. " imdb.com/title/tt0032842 |

For all those thanking the OFM for this find, it can now be revealed that he/I are fans of National Review on Line Corner blog and Debbie Witt's marvelous collection of links. A good way to spend an idle half hour or three. |
