Hello folks. My latest ship model was a quickie, Langton's 10 gun schooner from the Great Lakes line. This is a pretty small model even by 1:1200 standards, and with a lot less surface area and rigging than a large frigate, it was a lot faster to crank out. With five guns per side, this must have been some very tight space indeed in a battle.

I've got a comparison shot over on my site if you would like to see it next to Langton's other Great Lakes schooner, the 6 gun with pivot gun model, and a frigate for size comparison.

To tweak it to my liking I've sanded down the hull a lot to make it sit lower, made masts from brass rods, and rigged with nylon paintbrush bristles.

Thanks!

Yes indeed tiny but impressive. I love viewing your War of 1812 vessels particularly those of the lakes; keep them coming and thanks.

A very clean finish for this boat so tiny!

Another masterpiece James! Your eyes must be a whole lot better than mine?

Thanks very much guys. I think the next one will be an even smaller model, the Great Lakes single masted sloop. Not much more than a heavy gunboat really, mounts two cannon on pivots.

Don't make us wait so long for the next one! ;-)

PS: you forgot to crosspost this one to the Napoleonic Naval Painting board. That's where I go for the eye candy posts. Easier than sorting through all the other AOS stuff.

Vol, thanks for the reminder on the Napoleonic Naval Painting board. I forgot all about them. Off to look at some of the great eye candy.
