I just posted another Combat Patrol (TM) Instructional video on YouTube. This one describes the process of anti-tank fire. You can get to it through the rules' Web page (http://www.bucksurdu.com/Buck_Surdu/Combat_Patrol.html) or directly on YouTube: YouTube link
Enjoy! |

That looks great John. I played Combat Patrol for the first time ever last night with a friend who was visiting from Denmark. I was blown away by it. The activation system and the way the game mechanics use cards for combat resoloution is fantastic. I have been gaming now for just over 35 years and have played Bolt Action, Flames of War, Rapid Fire, Command Decision and many more. Combat Patrol was undoubtably the best WW2 Platoon level game I have ever played. It has great decision points and is fun to play. |

Buck just a quick question about hit locations: Do the various hit locations on the target vehicle effect the eventual damage done or is it just being used to determine the precise defensive "armor value" of the target vehicle with that shot? ie a shot hits the tracks of a Sherman. The "track" has a certain armor value that is (for example) less than a direct hit on the main body of the tank. The shot is a hit but does the track location effect the chances of the Sherman being destroyed or immobilized etc? Thanks BTW I really liked how you gave a concise schedule of how to read the cards in the event of firing at a vehicle. Shows how quickly and conveniently this system could be played. As someone who is planning on playing real soon this is really helpful |

War Panda: The hit location has two effects in the game. First, as you suggest, different locations on the vehicle have different armor, so the location has an impact on the chance of penetrating. Second, many of the cards list damage under the hit location icon that is specific to that location. For instance, track and wheel hits often cause a mobility kill even if the round did not penetrate. Some results indicate that the weapon is damage, the turret is jammed, etc. As another example, a hit in the turret may jam the turret or cause the crew to bail out, but it doesn't cause a mobility kill. Thanks, for the videos, John. Very useful for addled-brains like me. I love to read rules but often miss their nuances. Cheers, Gregory
