Well I've moved to a new house which already has a finished basement and I have ownership rights to two rooms. One I'm lining will shelves to house figures and terrain when not in use and the other will be a dedicated gaming room. Now my question is should I go with a permanent 8 x 4 table that will allow 4ft of space around the table (and I could add boards to expand it temporarily) or should I go with a permanent 8 x 6 that still allows at least 3ft all around?

I am looking for some information (or even a picture) of the contents of GHQ's US 54, M2 & M3 Halftrack Detail Pack. The listing on the web site says "tarps, racks, gas cans, etc."
That is a little vague.
Thank you

I would split the difference and 8x5. Personally, a 6 foot deep table has always seemed like a bit of a stretch to reach the middle comfortably.

Looks like another bug strike

Re the OP of this thread: It is probably a bits pack to add a unique look to each model. The only vague thing to me is the "tarp" as you don't know if it is extended over the rear of the vehicle or if it is rolled up and slung somewhere on the side/rear. I'd contact GHQ Models directly for the definitive answer.

8x6 is my vote
I've had a 6x15 table for 30 years with no problem.
IMO, give yourself as much gaming area as possible…

You could always go flexible with a permanent 8x4 table but add the extra two feet with a hinge connection if you want the larger table. Making the extra bit swing out the way completely when not used but also secure when it is in place is the tricky bit but not impossible.

Otherwise, I'd go 8x5 but I'm on the shortish side and very aware of my reach limitations.

Go with 8x6. You'll appreciate the extra foot of maneuver room. My table's 12x7 (with a 4x8 that can be added to the end) and some of the gamers who have reach limitations complain, but range is range -- at least until virtual reality goggles, wargaming apps, and full comms show up. :)

On the OP (well, title of this thread), the tarps are rolled up. The pack comes with instructions/suggestions on where to put them, they sort of fit in between some of the projects on the halftracks.

The racks are of two types, boxy ones that sit on the back of the halftrack, and "strapped on" ones (they look sort of like a fender).

They make the vehicles look pretty nice, very busy and workmanlike.

If you're looking for spare kit in 6mm, Perfect Six Scenics has some stuff too. Not designed to fit exactly onto GHQ vehicles, but good filler for truck or halftrack beds.

Thank you boy wundyr x. I have asked GHQ but never heard back. Perfect Six has some good stuff but the fuel/water can is out of stock for now. Cheers

Go with then 8 x 6 or you'll end up with temporary extensions becoming permanent features. We've got a 12 x 6 at home and my wife manages fine reaching the middle.

The tarps for the half-tracks are rolled and the racks appear to be for holding landmines. The castings are very clean and will let you make your models look a little different.

The width is also impacted by the height of the table. If the table top is on the low side (say under 36") then you should be fine with a set 6' width. If it's higher than 40" (mine is 42") then 6' might be a stretch. You also also facto in the shape and size of your gaming friends

Personally I'd go with a 4' width and add extenders when needed to get to 6

what games to you mostly play.
