The heritage of the 63eme Regiment de Ligne extended back to 1672 with the formation of the Swiss Regiment d'Ernest by Colonel Jean Jaques Baron d'Erlach.

The regiment would go through several reincarnations up to the Revolutionary and Napoleonic eras and would be a veteran regiment when it entered Spain in 1808 under Colonel Mouton-Duvernet, with Golymin 1806, Eylau and Friedland 1807 on its list of battle honours.

Thanks for your comments chaps.

Stephen – with 16 of the 24 battalions done the end of painting French line infantry is in sight, which only helps to maintain the momentum. I am looking forward to getting stuck into Bassecourt's Spanish infantry.

John – thank you, I love the history that surrounds the units that fought in this international of battles and I hope it adds to the model units by understanding their back story.

Cheers

Hi Chris , thank you, you and me too. Still a bit to do, but the thought of getting all these toys into action provides a great incentive.
