Does anyone know of Scenarios for these rules that are for 6x4ish size tables? |
freerangeegg | 26 Jan 2016 9:39 a.m. PST |
Pretty much all the ones in the rapid fire scenario books are playable on a. 6 x 4 table. |

All the books and the ones on line call for 17 or 9 foot tables as far as I can see. That is just not an option form unfortunately. |

8'X5' is kind of standard for most of their published scenarios. That assumes the ranges and rates used in the rules and 20mm figures. 6X4 should work out fine for 15mm figures and shorter ranges. I am in progress of making 6mm armies for Rapid Fire as well as other games. I plan on playing them out on a 3'X2' board and using centimeters instead of inches. |

Cut the scenario down to accommodate your table size. Some can be done fairly easily, others not so much. |

I have thought about 15mm but I like 20mm figures I could try playing part of scenarios I suppose. |

In the Rapid Fire Guide to the North African Campaign, the authors scaled down the units. A tank battalion is only 3 vehicles but the whole brigade would be represented by 3 of these plus a command tank. Similar to their standard scale. Same went for the battalions. One Battalion would represent a whole brigade. Of course they lay on the 8X5 or larger table giving a sense of scale of the campaign. You could do the same but play on a smaller table. |

Thanks, I will see if I can get that book. I was also thinking of making the infantry units platoons and scaling the whole thing down a level, say having a company instead or the battalion represented on the table. |

There are a couple of scenarios in the original rule book that do that very thing. One was a commando raid and the other LRDG (I think). |

Their Battle of the Bulge scenario book has several smaller scenarios: Stoumont is played on a 4 X 4 Deception at Malmedy on a 4 X 6 Foy-Notre Dame a 5 X 6 Tillet a 5 X 5 The scenarios for NW Europe book has:
Son Bridge a 4 X 4 Schwanenhof is 5 X 5 The mini campaign of Hammelburg (3 games) also used 5 X 5 Essel is a 5 X 6 |

I usually just take the scenarios and scale them down to fit my table size. 8x5 isn't a huge reduction to 6x4, just put the terrain items closer together. One of the smallest was Maltot, which I scaled down to 80cm x 80cm. I did reduce the ground scale somewhat for that, and use 6mm stuff. |

Have a look here for some scenarios that would fit a 6 x 4 table…. link Mark Piper has been working on scenarios for RF for a number of years and they cover just about everything you could want. |

I usually cut everything in half if I can't use the full size. I play on a 6x4 table. Sometimes if the battle is nowhere near one end or the other I just remove it from the map. Or I cut the whole battle in half and make 2 games out of one. |

We just push two 6X4 tables together and make a 6X8 which leaves room for beer and pretzels on the side. TomT |

We just push two 6X4 tables together and make a 6X8 which leaves room for beer and pretzels on the side. Wonderful if you've got the space to do that. I haven't. |

I slice the table size in 1/2 If I am playing 10mm, by 25% if I'm playing in 25mm. Seems to work well. I have range sticks premeasured for both scales. |
