So i'm of the strong opinon that the french bardin uniforms did not reach the infantry untill waterloo.

But what about the dragoons, perry plastic dragoons are i the bardin style coat. Would cavalry be prioritised and so get the new style earlier?

Sadly i find no dragoons in earlier unifoms i like, i have the front rank, but thry are not their best work, and it will be a long time untill /if ever the FR reenforcement packs gets cavalry.

By then, post armistice, surely the Bardin would have been widely available

As Marc says, ironically, the cavalry would be more likely to have the new uniforms considering so many were lost in Russia and new regiments had to be recruited and equipped practically from scratch. I would have few qualms about using the Perry Dragoons this late in the Wars.

There were dragoons pulled out of Spain for 1813 and these regiments might have still been in the older uniforms. I'm sure some of the better of them would have been posted to the Guard or the cuirassier.

The picture maunuscript of Bommer, the so called camp de Dresde shows the Dragoons with round lapels, no Bardin uniforms

But how I do agree about the need for any French Dragoon figures, mounted, wearing the pre Bardin cut away coat. I agree with you. Front Rank cavalry generally suffer from stunted growth and very curious right arms, thicker than their legs. Superb castings and great detail, but not of the anatomical standard of their latest work.

Now, in plastic, the conversion potential would be incredible. Odd epaulette or aigulette here and there and you would have Grenadiers, Dragoons, Gendarmes of the Guard, early Carabiniers etc etc. But I'd take metal!

I hope the Perrys will consider early 'heavy' dragoons for both the French and the British in the Peninsular. Plastic sets would provide so much variety with different heads etc. But I would be happy with metal.

I honestly think the French would sell at least as well as their cuirassiers in plastic. I was delighted early on that they intended to stick to 1815, but they are diversifying into Retreat and Egypt and increasingly Peninsula with weird Confederation States, Bavarians etc….great! Opened up a whole new era to me………..

The 'old' foundry 25mm figures have dragoons in both the "early" and "late" version, they look good in my armies, after all they were designed by the Perry brothers. I must indeed agree with what is said above about Front Rank dragoons, although I like the brand in general, their dragoons are amongst the poorer castings and just seem to lack life a bit

I like the FR dragoons, chunky, lacking a bit of life, but still great to paint.

Hm, I could use Brigade games dragoons, they are 1805 period but from my understanding it's the same uniform used untill the bardin uniforms took over.
I think they are Paul Hicks sculpts so should be quite nice.
The problem is the price. With shipping 12 FR dragoons with horses will be 480kr

12 brigade games dragoons BEFORE shipping will be 540kr.
I need to add ATLEAST 150kr for shipping.

I checked with shipping it came to 736.183kr

That is a huge diffrence

I can actually get 18 front rank dragoons with shipping for slighlty less then 12 brigade games dragoons with shipping.

One thing that should be remembered, and might prove helpful uniform-wise, is that French troops were pulled out of Spain in 1813 and 1814, including dragoons, and I doubt very much if they had the new Bardin uniforms. They undoubtedly still retained the older-style uniforms through 1814 which could include bearskins for the elite companies.

Brechtel198: Yes I planed on painting one of them(don't remember the regiment, but I'll find it, but it was in brown coats and one of the few well drilled vertran dragoon regiments at leipzig

Scharnachthal: Thanks they do infact look very nice, and conpared to other ranges quite afordable.
