I am currently playtesting my space ship wargame Rail Gun. I used miniatures with the game for the first time today, having used counters in the past In the game, a battleship escorted by two destroyers engaged a pair of enemy heavy cruisers and three destroyers. The fight was quite bloody---one heavy cruiser destroyed, the second badly damaged; the battleship was crippled. Most of the fire was directed at the big boys, so the destroyers escaped relatively unscathed. I have written up a detailed, blow-by-blow account of the game on my blog. You can get an idea of how the game plays and where it still needs some work. Some pics and the link below. Thanks for looking! blog link: link

Nice AAR! Those are some nice miniatures. What line are they from? |

Thanks! The ships are plastic bits, mostly 40k weapons with other random stuff from my bits box. |

I find the rules interesting. I've got the counters on my workbench to cut out. Just need to find the time to play…. Regards, Scott Chisholm |

A question, what if the opening salvoes by one side was directed at the destroyers? Not familiar with the game, but typically, destroyers are light weights on weapons and armor, where as heavy cruisers and battleships are heavy. Could a cruiser or battleship salvo cripple a destroyer rather quickly? |

Thanks all :) @Stogie: I play a little fast and loose with ship terminology (in my imagined future, the ship class names are more linguistic hold overs than hard categories), but a heavy cruiser or battleship salvo is likely to badly damage a destroyer in a hurry. The differences are not as significant as in naval combat, though---the battleships are bigger and badder than the destroyers, but by degrees, not magnitudes. |

Looks cool, Nate! I really like the emphasis on damaging systems and crew. Hopefully hits that balance of trying to achieve all the color without bogging down. Good work. |
