A small workshop in Shanghai, China produces a whole series of 1/2000 Chinese warships that fought the 1894 war. Here is my first touch on the series, cruiser Pingyuan. It's the first Chinese-built ironclad, a coastal gunboat in fact.

I added some details to the resin kit.

Really nice work…far more talent and patience than I would ever have.

Does that site in China that sells the ships have a website?

Very impressive work, thanks for posting.

I've been wondering about 1/2000 model ships. It seems this would be a good scale for wargaming, if models were available. I've only ever seen a small number of subjects from gashopon series in 1/2000 scale. I think all of them were WWII Japanese vessels. Please advise, if it's not too much trouble: How widely available are models in 1/2000 scale? What subjects are covered? Who makes them? Where can they be ordered?

Very nice!

1/2000 is an odd scale. I don't know anyone else who makes war game models in this scale. Too bad really. They would be great to have in either 1/3000 or 1/2400.

Superb water effects! Would live to hear more on how you achieved them.

<sigh> I'm trying to reduce the number of scales I own. I can't start yet another! <grumble>

Very nice work, and I'd totally look into this if it were in a scale I already own. 1/1200, 1/2400, maybe 1/3000, or even 1/600…

I like that the modeler even made the ventilators. I need a bunch of those to dress up my 1/2400 Panzerschiffe models.

The workshop doesn't have a website but regularly put items on the Chinese equivalent of ebay to sell.
Here you can find them.

To be honest, I would have prefered 1/2400 rather than 1/2000. In 1/2000 there are just too few choices for any amibitious collector. Some Japanese companies make 1/2000 ships, mainly WW2 IJN ships. Among them F-toys is top class, its models are pre-painted fast assembly kits.

Takara adds a little to the WW2 list, but its kits are always horribly divided into sections, making it impossible to hide the junctures while keeping the details. Aoshima only has 8 capital ships of USN, RN and DKM, the moulds are already 20 years old. Otherwise there are small workshops in Japan who sell 3d printed or resin models, but very very hard to get.

If you are interested I can post some of them in the WW2 Naval Section.

My decision on the selection of scales is as follow: since I had already bought myself almost all the 1/2000 models that I could find before I got aware of the presence of the scale 1/2400, I'll limit myself in 1/2000 for WW2 period. But for any periods before or after WW2, I'm going for 1/2400. Strange I know, painful even for those ships that fought WW2 and post-war conflicts, but well…

BTW, @dBerczerk
It's a bit difficult for me to make a clear explanation of the process… I'll take some time to organize my phrases for that. :)
