I just saw that Hobbylinc has them, for the incredible price of $8.00 USD a box, which is a 20% discount off the $10 USD retail price.
$2.00 USD each, for fighting vehicles in 1/144th scale.
Doesn't get much better than that!!!
Wish I'd waited a little to buy mine, but am still very happy with them.
The only disappointment is that they don't have any detailing on the treads. It's just plain, flat, styrene strip material stretched around the bogies. Obviously, they made the decision at this scale, it doesn't matter, but I'd still like to have seen a little more effort on that area of the models.
A word of caution, when removing from the sprue, cut the thin end of the gun barrel on the HS-30 weapon free first!
I did the opposite, and cut the turret off, and the thin gun barrel broke a bit too far from the end, so don't make that mistake. The gun barrel is really thin, and fragile.
I suspect that also applies to the M48 as well.
At that price, you can buy a full company, for a reasonable price. You'll need 16 of them, or 8 x boxes.
One HS-30 for the HQ commander, and 3 x platoons of 5 x vehicles each. The 5th vehicle in every platoon should have a 106mm recoilless rifle mounted on it, so need to acquire some of those from someone.
For the M47 company, you might want to acquire another box, since you need 17 of those. 2 x HQ vehicles, and then 3 x platoons of 5 tanks each.
Not many Modern armor companies you can field for less than $40 USD each, for 16 – 17 vehicles (less than $75 USD for two companies of armor, not including S&H).
Now, we just need to encourage Pendraken to release their Cold War West German infantry, with G3 rifles and M1 helmets, stat.
In the interim, you can purchase the Falklands Argentines, with SLRs, if you want late 1950s Bundeswehr troopers to go with your HS-30s. Better hurry though, before their price increase.
