Bored to play with 15 mm tanks, you can play with a real one. On websites like Mortar-Investment you can buy a T-34 for € 32,000, € 16,000 for a BMP or just a Praga PLDVK for € 3,000. There are vehicles of the train at lower prices and with few kilometers, to park with a T-72 is simpler than it seems …and then they have impressive arguments !

I guess if you need to ask the price of shipping…you just can't afford itevil grin

Hafen von Schlockenberg18 Jan 2016 2:02 p.m. PST

The time to buy was in the early 90s,right after the collapse. You could get a T34,delivered to Port of Baltimore, for $10,000. USD Buy three, get one free. There were some hairy stories in those days. I dealt with one guy who got a Mig with a warehouse full of stuff. He'd already sold it when I got there, but the buyer didn't want the ordinance,so I bought some of the bombs (practice,of course--I hope) They're long gone at gun shows. He'd also gotten, and sold, some sub periscopes. I bought mostly Russian coats and such. One turned out to be an old Volkssturm jacket with a stamp from Mosfilm. That was interesting.

1st T34 to arrive in the UK came with a complete load out. Customs had a fit, the supplier just said that when young bought a tank you got everything!

Sadly, in addition to the shipping (airfreight would be a killer!), poor fuel economy.

Also, in my state, the vehicle emissions laws are rather stringent, so the government would probably just confiscate it and use it against me/us.

A Mig 23 was purchased by a private owner in the US. No weapons, but when it arrived customs noticed it was a nuclear weapons capable ship and now it's at Wright-Patterson. I saw it. It still had the trefoil on the nose. Poor SOB who shelled out for it was stuck I think.

Range time would be hard to arrange

They would not take the monopoly money I was offering.

uglyfatbloke19 Jan 2016 10:22 a.m. PST

I offered to pay with my own special 10,000 GBP notes, but they were n't having that either.

A while back you could get a Chieftain for about $55 USDK. Haen't checked recently.

Shipping to US would have been a bit steep, but…

Besides, wargaming at 1:1 scale is a serious pain. You have to hire and equip your soldiers rather than paint and store them plus you probably have to pay them too, give them time off, and medical care, etc, etc.

Just a serious pain. I'll stick with my 15mm toys.

I want one to drive through rush hour traffic, I'm getting tired of people pulling out in front of my Cherokee.

It seems you're not alone here …

I'll either take a T72 or, if I wanted to be Classy, a JS-3. (above pic)
Airsofters, Paintballers, and Sunday Drivers Beware!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and you could start a tree removal, demolition, and off road recovery service with the thing! Charge extra for using a tank, of course! And let people ride in it for some money.

Haunted hay rides would have a whole new meaning when pulled by a heavy tank. "oogha boogha boogha!!!" (BOOOOMM!!!)

Of course an armored recovery vehicle would make more sense in this application, but no where near as fun.

It is expensive, but I would write it off as a business expense, lol!!

on a side note, having one of those big ol Ural trucks would be pretty sweet too…

Landorl20 Jan 2016 7:16 p.m. PST

I could use a T72 for getting to and from work. Gas would be murder, but you would never have to worry about traffic…

Is that your JS-3 Barin ? MPG must suck ! laugh Also AFVs require lots of maintenance. Before, during and after ops maintenance … not like the Toyota or Ford many here may have in your drive way … evil grin

Barin121 Jan 2016 11:14 a.m. PST

Not mine, unfortunately. We're having abnormal snowfalls this January, and while digging out my Opel and then trying to get out of the snow, I thought about GTT-3, any tank, or at least BRDM. BTW, there's more than 50 BRDM registered in Moscow, mostly used for hunting or/and fishing…

Ah, the joys of one-to-one scale gaming!

But … a Stuart IS ancient armor!

OK I need the airstrike template. Now read off the "4-engined level bomber, medium altitude" dimensions, please.

And they say Flames of War looks like tanks-in-a-parking-lot!

Let's see … Shooter on the move using co-ax and hull MGs. Target is stationary, trash cans in the open. Role 4D6, suppress on a 4 or better.

You say the crew figures are out-of-scale to the vehicles? And exactly what is THAT supposed to mean?

(Just playin' ….)

The perfect vehicle for the outdoorsman ! evil grin

Neat Pics Mark, nice to see some of the "old girls" still looking good !

As a side project, I am really tempted to get a fiberglass replica Schwimmwagen hull and install the running gear from a 4-seat ATV (and a VIN plate from an old Bug). Wouldn't sound right, unless Can-Am/Rotax makes a 4-seater, but would be really nice to have up in the high country. Bigger stuff like BRDMs or even Humvees are wider than the trails around here.

For in-city, I think I want an S-Tank with the dozer blade. And the main gun rigged with a propane noisemaker. evil grin

Having to daily navigate the certifiably insane Boston (MA USA) traffic on the Southeast Expressway (known locally as the "SEXWay") it has long been my dream to have a vehicle mounting a large bore forward-firing compressed air gun firing plastic bags of moist canine excrement. Unfortunately, certain disagreeable aspects regarding on board ammunition stowage have so far proven to be insurmountable.

Easily solved by having onboard production units. All it takes is an open window. Your rate of fire may not be very high though.
