As the above ad suggests, Eagles of Empire's Franco-Prussian Range will be launched on the 27th February at the Hamburger Tactica Show.

The 27th February will also see the opening of the webshop – more on that soon.

For now, more info on prices can be found on the blog:

How big is a game? How many squads on a side? Rules. Must know more about zee rulz.

Well I game with units of 24 infantry and 12 cavalry, so if these box sizes are fixed I won't be buying them. Pity.

Very exciting stuff! thumbs up

Will individual "trooper" figures be available for purchase by those of us who prefer 24-figure (eg squad box plus 8 more troopers) wargames units?

Can you say (or provide a comparative image) whether your figures are reasonably compatible with "1866" figures some of us may already have?

Afraid being located in California precludes dropping in at HAMBURGER TACTICA next month. frown

Will watch developments, wish you good fortune with the project.

Thanks for the comments and encouragement guys!

For those of you who prefer 24-figure units:
There will be character packages for both French and Germans in Wave 3, which will blend in to add even more flavor to the units. These could be used to extend units to 24 figures.

Also, an easy fix would be to buy three packs (which would also trigger discounts), that would give you 48 minis, or two 24-figure units.

Size: They compare very well to the 1866 range – I've got a lot of the 1866 Prussians myself. Those are excellent minis. Will post pics on the blog with a comparison shortly.

Chanzy:

All that, discounts, and character figures just makes this project the more appealing.

Your candid comments about the "1866" range are most welcome.

Thanks for the reply, with extra character sets, they are back on the list!

Very nice figures, good luck with the release. Not my period but I am interested in one of your blog posts that mentioned rules, which will hopefully be adaptable to 1914!

Chanzy17 Jan 2016 4:17 p.m. PST

@Secsesh: 1914-15 is one of my favorites too and closely connects to 1870-71. But that goes without saying if you've been through my blog. On my post from 31st dec 15, I'm hinting that early WW1 is on the horizon too, and the Eagles of Empire range and rules will cover this period eventually. But first off, a comprehensive coverage of both the imperial and republican part of the Franco-Prussian War, which lies at the root of WW1.

Will be watching this closely, 1914-15 is my favorite too. A well-sculpted and complete (many have gone the way of other 1870-71 lines) range will be most welcome. thumbs up

Will (1870-71) ordering via your website be active later this month after the debut in Hamburg?

What type of poses will be in a box set of 16 figures? Will you have the ability to get a box set of advancing figures or a box set of firing figures or is it a mix of various poses in one box?

I see pictures of French infantry on your site in various firing/loading poses so I assume that would be in a box set, but do you also have French infantry in a marching or advancing pose?

Thanks

Chanzy19 Jan 2016 3:06 a.m. PST

@Cheriton: Yes, the webshop will air at the same time as the launch venue in Hamburg. There will be a launch deal also :0)

@Olaf03: Yes, some sets will be firing in a skirmish line style, some charging/advancing. I choose to depict the French line infantry in a firing skirmish line, as they were on the receiving end of a great number of German charges, and preferred to use the distance factor of the chassepot. The coming Turcos will be charging, screaming their lungs out ;0)

On the German coalition's side, the initial Bavarian and Prussian boxes are charging/advancing. Again, this fits their historical profile, with heavy pushed charges under intense fire.

All that said, there will be a range of individual character miniatures coming in Wave 2 and 3. These will be based on some of the historical paintings from Detaille and Neuville :0) (those paintings got me into the period in the first place) So, I aim at offering variety on poses, so you can really animate the units.
