What rules are available for 15mm non-competitive game. The game must last for an enjoyable evening from start to finish. I want a rule set that is fresh, up to date with good mechanisms that are simple to understand and a joy to play. Not just a set that creates a game that continues to last man standing. |

Victory without quarter – PDF linkCard driven, give a good game. Slightly floored so worth reading the forum. Slightly flawed indeed. I gave up on them when I realised how flawed they were … |

In my group we play Peter Pig's Regiment of Foote. I don't own any ECW figures or rules and have relied on my friend to sort it all out but I have to say these are excellent rules and we always have fun games. I particularly like the campaign set up at the beginning of the game. |

Check out Warr Without An Enemie. A fun set of rules plays in a reasonable time. It uses command points so you can't do everything every turn. I like that feature because you have to decide what really need done and what you can let ride for a turn. There is also a fun personality generator for the officers that give them some unique abilities and limitations. This can add a lot of flavor especially if you are doing a campaign. link |

Victory Without Quarter is theoretically a set in development, although nothing much seems to have happened for quite a while. However, ieven the current free version gives a very enjoyable game with lots of period flavour. There is also a reasonably active forum where the designer or other experienced players answer questions. Hopefully it will see the light of day as a fully developed and published set one day, but in the meantime it is still out rules set of choice for 15mm ECW. |

My group have had some fun games with Pike and Shotte, with both 15mm for bigger battles and 28mm for smaller battles like First Battle of Middlewich. We had a complete novice playing in the 28mm, but he was able to participate fully after the first couple of moves. We quite like the uncertainty of the command system and you can tailor ratings of generals when recreating actual battles, so at Middlewich we gave Brereton a 9, but Aston only got a 7-part of his command did nothing for about 4 moves, but the Royalist still managed to win, partly because Brereton became a casualty "leading from the front". |

FWIW I've started experimenting with the new Regiment of Foot (RoF2) Using my 10mm ECW link The above link gives posts in chronological order These are my first use of any of Martin's rules but thus far really enjoying them – haven't actually gotten to the fighting however. |
