Friends, I need some help. There are a few bits in the WGF Germans sprues that I don't recognize. All from the bodies sprues. I couldn't upload a photo, so I hope these descriptions will do: 1. Looks like a short binocular, or like 2 small paper cups enclosed in a right-angled C-shape. There's like 9 or 12 of those. No idea! 2. A larger leather square pouch, with what look like pens fixed to it. I'm thinking a map case of sorts… Maybe for the squad or asst. squad leader? 3. A smaller leather square pouch. Pretty sure it's a "machine gunner's pouch", but not 100%. (Reference: "German Soldiers of World War Two" book.) Hope anybody can help! :) |

I don't have my box to hand but they sound like. 1. MG ammo clips? 2. Map case? 3. MG tool pouch? |

I second D A THB's reply, if you are talking about Wargames Factory instead of Foundry. |

No.2 square pouch might be a SMG ammo pouch – those were rectangular with raised, individually flapped compartments and often hung from a 'shoulder strap'. The thing Hollyweird GI's never pick up when taking a German SMG, but never run out of ammo for the whole movie. |

Oh, that's right! I wrote "Wargames Foundry" in the title! Stupid late-night typo, I DID mean Wargames FACTORY. Here's a pic from eBay that shows them:
No. 1, 2, & 3 are the objects in the 4th, 5th, and 6th columns, respectively (the smaller pouches are face down). The MG ammo drum idea seems right, although I've looked at all my picture books, and haven't seen anything like them. Who would carry that? The loader, or MG gunner, and where on his uniform? Thanks, friends, for the help. —Rolando |

Didn't think to look "MG42 ammo drum" up on Google! Ammo drums they are :) Now, where to glue them onto my little Fascists…

Ammo drums, map cases. I can't really make out the other item. The drum carriers look hugely impractical to me, they either have a carrying handle (which I can't see in that photo) or clip onto the D rings at the top of the y straps. |

That's a good sugestion, thanks :) —Rolando |

I found also this page with figures that show all these things being carried. The large pouch IS for the squad leaders, and the small box/pouch for the MG gunner. link All unknowns are now over ;) —Rolando |
