Not often I put 2 posts on my blog in one day, but this one is worth it: Back in 2010, the question was asked 'How big was the British army in 1899?' Well: easterngarrison.blogspot.co.uk
gives a good idea. Simply one of the best books I've come across – pity it was published in 1899… Lots of information here about the late Victorian army. Even the cover of the book is bound in… wait for it… 'the actual material used for the uniforms of our Soldiers in South Africa, etc, known as "Khaki" |

If you want your own copy… link Sorry, Archive.org does not seem to have it, which is a pity, since they usually do color and scan foldout sheets. Unless my Archive.org Fu is weak today. |
