I have sent money thru paypal using my CC, never via paypal itself. I'm awaiting a refund whereby the vendor has sent me an echeck claimable via paypal. To get it I have to create an account etc… So, I did as they only required an email address and very few other personal information. Now the echeck shows up but to claim it, I have to give further personal data – last 4 of my SSN, date of birth, mobile…. |

Go into your account in paypal and if that is what it is asking it has to do with government reporting and tracking of money. If it isn't there, ask support a question. They will be very quick if you think it is fraud. |

I've had a PayPal merchant account for over a decade now and I seem to recall having to give all that information when I was setting it up to link it to my bank account to get deposits. But I'm always skeptical of anything asking for that information since it's almost all the info required for ID theft. First of all I would log into paypal by entering the address into your web browser, NOT by clicking on a link in an email. I would imagine that the vendor isn't trying to commit fraud and ID theft in the guise of giving you a refund tough… |

There has been an increase in fraud attempts using bogus PayPal emails. Go straight to your account and review any problems there. Then you may need to contact Paypal directly. |

I had a friend send me money, but in order to get it, I had to either link my PayPal account with my bank account or open up, what would be in effect, a merchant account and provide more information. I had my friend withdraw it from PayPal and pay me the cash. Not a choice in your case. |

Good advice…research on your own Paypal account. Sirs, you have insulted dear Terrement, whose fine pedigree is Virginian, so bring your sword at dawn and meet on the Field of Honour behind St. Phillips…Terrement, however, will have pistols. Terrement, hope you had as much fun crafting that as I did reading it :^) |

Interesting – I just (a few days ago) re-upped my supporting membership and used CC via Paypal. Got an e-mail a couple days later asking me to provide 'essential information' so that the transaction could be completed. Also got a PM from Bill telling me he'd completed the re-up, so I shot a copy of that e-mail off to the Paypal fraud/spoof address. It wasn't from them. |

Only had one instance of goods not being sent. I had to show I had tried through the resolution process which involves emailing the seller through PayPal. I did this and getting no response had a refund. |
