I was looking for inspiring pics of the X-wing game ships such as Slave 1 in ground based 6mm games. I thought a 6mm scale star port full of ships would look great and thought someone out there must have some cool pics. Also do you use your ships with 6mm figures or 10mm in your star ports. |

Someone was doing a ground battle on one of the facebook pages. Let me see if I can find it. AHA, it was on Beasts of War link |

There are couple of groups on facebook that support SW Armarda you might want to take a look at. 8) |

That looks cool. Really, FFG could make an actual game out of this. Not that I need to dump hundreds of dollars on more X-Wing stuff… but the idea is actually pretty awesome because you could just take the expansion and do land warfare alone… I like the idea a lot. |

Hi CorpCommander, The problem with land warfare, for most 'casual gamer types', would be the cost of terrain. You can play X wing on a sheet of black something (card, cloth, whatever) at very little cost. Playing land based games requires a lot of expenditure on terrain, or to put it another way, cash on stuff that doesn't do anything except look good. For 'land-based' wargamers the concept is a good one, they are used to buying terrain, but for the wider FFG audience I doubt it makes much commercial sense. Still, there is nothing to stop people coming up with stuff FFG don't do off their own bat. |

I have plenty of terrain so that's not a worry. But I was wondering if there are any other wargamer's like me wanting to use their ships as part of a land based game. I love the Beasts of war stuff. |

Stealth, I totally bought into the Beasts of War demo and have been working on a variant of that project. I bought some micromachine AT-ST and the Action Fleet AT-ATs. I am leveraging existing micro-armor terrain that I have for OGRE. Still waiting on the Beasts of War guys to release the next steps – the rules and AAR. |

I have run the Death Star Trench Run, but I am not sure I would call that a ground based game. All I did was add turrets. |

I am thinking Mos Eisley space port would be a cool place for some X-wing scale shenanigans to go on. |

Not to mention the x-wing & tie fights in the new movie |

Inspired by the Beasts of War "Attack on Endor" I recreated it with my own set of rules. This included some altitude rules so ships could fly over forests or around them at low altitude.
A Hoth style setting using 6mm figures:

FFG uses a scal of 1/270 for the X-Wing game's non-capital ships. There you go. :-) |

DB DRAFT, who makes the SW minis? |

The figures came from the AMT/Ertl Battle of Hoth set. This set also had the AT-ATs, snowspeeders and Rebel defense weapons. The AT-STs are by Micromachines. |
