There are a lot of companies in the hobby, and some can got lost in the crowd. Which company producing sci-fi products do you think deserves more publicity?

GZG

Old Crow, the 15mm vehicles are cast in a super high quality resin, and the infantry is really well done. But alas, they are not trading at the moment.

There is Clear Horizon, and while they have been active here, they are small but make high quality figures.

Armies Army is excellent. His sci fi Brits are now sold by Brigade Models, but he has other 15mm sci fi figs that are very nice.

Oddzial Osmy – Sci fi Poles and other offerings. Look great!

I know some of these are mentioned on a regular basis, but I still think that based on their small size they do get overlooked.

As for GZG, not certain if they are overlooked, but they make some of the best castings available, and certainly deserve more PR!

GZG is fantastic but how can they be unknown?

I'd say something like Oddzial or Armies Army.

White Dragon Miniatures and all the above.

but how can they be unknown?

The question asked was: "Which company producing sci-fi products do you think deserves more publicity?"

Ad Astra News13 Jan 2016 2:42 p.m. PST

And the topic says "unknown".

Rebel miniatures is hardly unknown but perhaps Clear Horizons is less known?

This is hard when you have "Go To" companies like the above plus Khurasan and Splintered Light ( though best known for fantasy.)

There is a 6mm company I am banging my brain cells to remember the name of right now… Stupid senior moment…

Mute Bystander13 Jan 2016 4:42 p.m. PST

Angel Barracks!

While searching I was reminded of micro world games, permablast, darkest star, dark realms. So many good choices that might qualify as lesser known since they were forgotten by my ancient brain cells…

A lot of "lost in the crowd" depends on your geographic location and your gaming confederates.

pig-iron-productions.com

Pig Iron Productions has magnificent service and products and could use more exposure/publicity.

Unknown is in the title :-)

And heck, GZG basically set the standard for 15mm scifi. I find it hard to believe that there's 15mm gamers out there who aren't already familiar with them.

A very detailed true 25mm line Denizen Miniatures, produced in the US by us….

And our 6mm building line…

I say unknown because most folks know us for our quality 15mm ACW figures and buildings, not of Science Fiction.

News to me . . . so the package I got from Jez just before Christmas doesn't exist? :)

I'd vote for Old Crow and Onslaught Miniatures, and special mention to Gregster's Lab in 6mm as well ( I imagine a Facebook-based company counts? :) )

I love that people are nominating companies who have TMP masthead ads as "unknown"… that's priceless.

I don't think any of the 15mm mfr.s are really unknown.
15mm SF is so busy, active and well-covered that nothing really slips under the radar.

I reckon the genuine unknowns will be in less popular scales – Jim Bowen's 40mm stuff for Monolith miniatures, maybe, or CP Models 20mm range.

This really is two questions.

Who needs to publicize better/more.

Who is "unknown" relatively.. If it was truly unknown then no one would be posting it.

The lack of clarity in the title and OP creates this duality. I see this because I am a master of unintended lack of clarity some days.

Again, ones idea of being relatively unknown is known to you but not to others you interact with.

Who needs to publicize more is again a relative matter. GZG is a long time source to me but it has dropped in my mental "queue" because other sources have been more prominent on the forums I visit (and because it is a overseas source which means the postage issue has led to my thinking about/ buying overseas miniatures is less prominent.)

Buckeye AKA Darryl14 Jan 2016 4:19 a.m. PST

CW – That IS news, as the website indicates that he really isn't active right now. Good to hear!!!

Some US ones I have dealt with no problems from the UK:

Combat Wombat

Darkest Star

Underground Lasers

That was kind of my point in suggesting GZG …

Buckeye, yes, he's doing what orders he can in between his regular jobs, like EDGE OF TOMORROW and THE FORCE AWAKENS ( Check the credits on the last one – Jez Plumridge, large as life), so he can be slow, but drop him an email if you need something :)

Oh, can I also add Bradley Miniatures to the list?
