Does anyone make any 15mm decals for the West German army for the Cold war?

There are a couple of German companies with huge but expensive ranges in HO (ie. 1/87 scale) which may be usable. I don't know of any specific 15mm sheets, but there's definitely at least one decal guy (ahem….) who has them on a short list of cold war bits that he'd like to get to in the not too distant future….

If you're after Teutonic crosses try the 1/300 West German/WW1 decals by I94 Enterprises

Hi Dom, you could make a killing here with some generic cold war decals for Team Yankee and the new Armies Army BAOR/VDV kickstarter (hint, hint)

I'm going to be needing some of those too, including unit numbers for the vehicles, which generally seem to be black with a white border.

Those little weight roundels in orange, and various army symbols, and ID numbers in white for the glacis would be appreciated as well. I suspect the latter could be more impressionistic than real.

1/144th needs these too.

…ummm us 😄

You do decals?

Who knew?

Just crosses, though, same as me iirc? (Mine are in my aircraft range, but the 1/300 ones are perfect for 15mm armour.) I presumed the OP's looking for a bit more than either of us offer at the moment.

You can use black & white versions of WW2 panzer numbers, as they used the same font (Fette Mittelschrift).

Yes we have a pack of modern German 15mm crosses

Excellent!

Thanks for the tip on the unit numbers.

Would love to see those little license plate numbers for the glacis, tactical signs, etc., etc., too, if anyone cares to produce those. I need a bunch of them.

Those weight number circles were used by at least the Germans and Americans, so we get double the bang for our bucks there.

All NATO heavy vehicles carried the Bridge Weight classification,

Tally Ho!

The Dutch, French and Belgians were also very keen on yellow we0ight discs during their 'green' phase. Weight discs tended to go low-vis after the switch to camouflage.

Are you taking the hints Dom?, or are you still up to your ears in Wars of the Roses?

GeoffQRF13 Jan 2016 4:57 a.m. PST

Is there any regulation in the numbering or is it by vehicle type? I have seen 30, 37 and 42 so far??! The discs are actually a regulation 9" and 6" in diameter. So that is 1.5mm and 2.3mm yellow circles… I could do plain circles and numbers but you'd need to overlay them. Or write the numbers on.

The only issue with licence plates (other than German ones seeming to be black lettering on white and French white lettering on black) is that you would have a limited set of different numbers (?). i could do just black and white baars (about 2mm high) but then you would need to put your own letters on.

Equally tactical markings should be about 1mm by 1.5mm.

How about BAOR number plates as well and little union jacks

Personal logo Doms Decals Sponsoring Member of TMP13 Jan 2016 5:54 a.m. PST

Geoff, bridge discs are similar to the British WW2 system – some rounding and approximation, but roughly speaking they're the vehicle's all-up weight in tons. And yes Jarrovian I am taking notes…. ;-)

gunnerphil13 Jan 2016 7:17 a.m. PST

The bridge discs stopped being used sometime after 75. Can not remember exact year we removed or painted over them.

If doing the little union jacks how about the black and white stripes for the convoy lights

GeoffQRF13 Jan 2016 7:38 a.m. PST

We already do Union Jacks. And Scottish flags. And American and Canadian.

Bellbottom13 Jan 2016 9:12 a.m. PST

As long as you're listening Dom, I'd like some 'Chinese eyes', a selection of tank names, and troop markings for Chieftains (preferably 4RTR), but any assistance would be appreciated.

Those Germans in 10mm looks good!…
