On Thursday evening we played our first game of Chain of Command:Abyssinia using James extensive collection of very well painted terrain and figures.

James and Adam played an Ethiopian Mehal Sefari force defending an amba while Frode and I attacked with a force of Askaris led by an Italian tenente.

We played a slightly modified attack and defend scenario.

A great introduction to the period.

Great looking game and a fascinating period. Who made the minis?

Happy Wanderer12 Jan 2016 7:34 p.m. PST

Minis are predominately Empress Miniatures from their Italo-Abyssinian War range, plus additional figures from Askari miniatures…their might be a few from Castaway Arts as well.

Check out the blog for details on miniatures for this period.

@Clif…what campaign have you started? The real Abyssinian war or the counterfactual from the Abyssinian Crisis?

Thanks for all the kind comments.
I cannot claim any credit for the terrain or figures though, all James Morris's fine work.

A super looking game! I love James' village.

I have a lot of Empress' figures too and our local group plays Italian/Ethiopian skirmishes. We recently tried a game of Chain of Command but had trouble with some of the concepts. We finished it but I'm positive we did things wrong.
We do the historical war not the one where France and Italy are allies. The historical is fascinating enough.

Oh, I heartily agree, great terrain there and nice paint jobs on the figs!

So I just ordered a Lancia (M1) armored car from Scale Creep. My plan is to move my pulp forces (Italian Askaris) into a proper force for the 1935 war.
