Greetings! I was wondering if anyone can point me to a good tutorial on painting realistic looking blue jeans or denim on 28mm miniatures? I have several figures that need jeans but thus far my efforts do not look right… |

I have found I get very good results by painting the jeans first in a light blue-grey tone (more blue than grey) and then applying a wash of very dark blue (a blue-black tint). Varying the initial paint color or the darkness of the wash gives different tones of faded denim, and you can achieve a blotched/mottled effect by creating rough edges or wet spots during the wash that will dry with a ragged effect. Now, for NEW denim, fresh off the store shelf, I typically use a dark navy blue first coat and then lightly apply a dry-brush of a middle blue to bring out highlights. |
