Hi, unfortunately I can't keep a permanent game tabletop in my place anymore, so I'm looking for rulesets SPECIFICALLY designed for a 2'x 2' (max 3' x 3') table to continue with the hobby. I know DBA, HOTT, Force on Force, some Ganesha games, PZ8 rulesets. More suggestions? Thanks Roby |

Neil Thomas' One Hour Wargames are designed to be played on a 3 foot square table. Recalculate ranges and movement and it should fit on a 2 foot square table. I like the black powder rules but am not sold on the WWII or WWI rules. |

Many of the Two Hour Wargames games can be played on a 3X3 surface. Rally Round the King is designed for 3X3. From what I remember, Mighty Armies and the various incarnations can be played on a 2X2. |

Commands & Colors: Napoleonics Not a tabletop war game but a hex grid board game. Of all the tabletop Napoleonic war-games I own, I can say Commands & Colors is the most fun. |

My Australian frontier rule set, 'Boomerang', is intended for use with 15mm figures on a 3' X 3' playing area. |

Most of Pulp Action Library's games can be played on a 2x2, or even just in a shoebox (with appropriate wallpaper, for that "inside a small room" look). |

Any grid based game can easily be scaled to that size, so PBI, Square Bashing, Lost Battles, the Command and Colours series etc. I've played perfectly good games of Spearhead on a 2x2 as well without changing any scales. |

You just need to keep it small, a battalion or two at most. Some of the Command Decision scenarios are also designed to be played on a single board, I've also played TAC:WW2 scenarios on a 2x2. 2'x2' represents 2.4km x 2.4km at 1" to 100 yards, plenty big enough for a battalion or three to have a decent battle, particularly if it is infantry heavy. As noted above, 1 Hour Wargames and the 5Core series are designed to be played on a 3x3. Most of the other Neil Thomas rules also work fine on small tables, I've played Napoleonic, Nineteenth Century, Pike and Shot and Ancients sets on a table 80cm x 80cm (for carpet tiles). Personally I like small, fast games which I can sit down at a table to play (put my back out leaning over a big table a few years ago, not an experience I wish to repeat). Edgehill on an 80x80 table: link Variant of Phil Sabins 'Fire & Movement' on a 2x2 link Tshushima on a 3x3
link 20mm Ancients on a 3x3 link France-Austrian War on 80cm x 80cm link |

Snappy Nappy for Napoleonics. Big battles for a small table. Multiplayer a specialty, but 1-on-1 battles on a kitchen table works just fine. Proven system, Yahoo group support. 1" = 150 yards scale (or about 1 mile per 12"). Two infantry or two cavalry stands = 1 brigade. 1 artillery stand = about 24 guns. |

Belive it or not, I would recommend the Lord of the Rings SBG from GW. Many of the 'narrative' scenarios involve less than a half-dozen figures on a side and could easily be played in such a small space |

It you treat one inch as one centimeter, then you can play The Art of War on a much smaller table. A decent sized game can fit onto a two by two area. Smaller figures will help the appearance issues. Also, increase the number of men per base by the scale change: e.g. a 20mm infantry base is 64 men in the 1"/25mm = 10 yards scale; at 1cm = 1", that 20mm base is 256 infantry. That way you can play full sized armies on the two by two area. |

Any set, but use 3mm figures :) not kidding, check out picoarmor.com – Marcin's o8 stuff is really good. DBA (or Hott) in 15/10/6 mm with 40mm bases – 2' or 3' area I have some ancients in 10mm based for Warmaster on 40x20 bases – look great in DBA and whole army can come out for larger games John |

To pick up a comment above; any set that uses inches, just convert everything to centimetres by a straight swap. If the rules say 12", play 12cm. Remember base size needs to change. You may want to go with smaller figures This way your 2x2 table becomes the equivalent of 5 foot square 2 foot is 61 cm. 61 inches would be 5 foot. We do Black powder in 10mm measuring in cm not the inches the rules use. We played one game on 8x6- that is 240 x 180 cm. The equivalent inch measured table would be 20 by 15 feet! |

That is up to you how big you want to make your table. Has nothing to do with the rules. |
