Hello, I cannot recall, can a ship turn both Left and Right in the same movement phase? Thanks |

I frequently do it with a ship that has 3+ turns. I call it a J hook: turn 1 turn starboard, move half movement, and then 2 port, rest of movement. |

In XDimensions and Continuum, yes. Original and Fleet Book '2.5', no. Vector? Dunno, don't play. Doug Edit: Lads, as I've said, until it's FT 3.0, it's not official. And, even then, I'll house rule it out. |

Doug, can you explain why you won't allow it? It doesn't happen in our games, but I'm curious. Regards, Brian |

Seems to me it is your typical, zig-zag maneuver, so should be permitted for vessels that can move at FTL speeds. |

Serpentine motion should be available, regardless of FTL drive or no, given the physics of the background. Application of thrust at several points is certainly possible to make such a move. |

Then why only at those points? Doug |
Covert Walrus | 12 Jan 2016 4:18 a.m. PST |
To make a serpentine move around certain points. Of course, no reason you couldn't do them at other points to make "sideslip" manouvres either, so long as you don't exceed the amount of thrust available. |

So, you think Full Thrust should have more 'bends' than just at the start and the middle of a turn movement? Doug |

As a tactical alternative, I don't have a problem with it. It has only a few advantages in game, TBH and only with high thrust rated fleets in Cinematic ( I don't play a lot of Vector, but can see that 'dodging' might have some use there) can utilise it to a great extent. |

A bend every MU? 60 degrees? You could play on hexes. Maybe a SW Armada-style maneuver, and you could use 30 degree turns as, someone else thought, is sufficient to 'lose a lot of the hex feel.' Or, maybe, just a string of current V in MU's length? Doug |
