Here is a preview pic of the artwork for the soon to be released Eagles of Empire Bavarian infantry box. Each box will contain 16 minis, equal to a standard squad of infantry for the coming rules.

More pics of the greens can be viewed on the blog:

Hurray! The correct Bavarian blue on the artwork.

Which,the figure,or the painting?

bruntonboy10 Jan 2016 2:23 p.m. PST

Figure and the painting although they are slightly different- at least they are not sky blue.

Actually, I would say that the difference between the blue of the figure and the blue of the painting is quite significant. The former looks closer to the mark for me.

I think it is good just to have some alternatives to the old Wargames Foundry range.
Did anyone in the Bavarian army have a sky blue uniform?Perhaps the artwork is meant to represent heavy wear on the uniform?

Very nice. Can you give any info on prices?

Chanzy18 Jan 2016 8:59 a.m. PST

@Olaf03: standard prices will at 21 GBP (ca. 30 USD). With 16 miniatures per boxed set, that means around 1,31 GBP (ca. 1,87 USD) per miniature.

Thank you for the pricing information

Will there be a chance to buy individual figures? 16 per box is ok for the French but my Prussians and allies are all in 20 fig Bns (They Died for Glory)

Bought the French and Bavarian sets at Tactica on Saturday and they are indeed excellent figures.
BTW the new Prussian figures (1841-1871) by Black Hussar fit in perfectly!

Judging from what I saw at the Musee des Invalides 14 days ago the Bavarian 'blue' of the uniforms in the painting are much closer to the actual uniform.
If anything the exhibited uniform was greyish blue with even a slight greenish tint. It was titled 'Chasseur= Jager and had a green collar instead of the more common yellow so perhaps these differed from the standard infantry?

Any dye of this period (pre-aniline) would fade rapidly, also the QA was probably not all there. I recall reading – can't remember the source sorry – that when the Bavarians paraded in Munich for the formal victory parade, the dye mix for the uniforms had gone awry and the men turned out in a fetching shade of Lilac.

Is there a date for the Prussian infantry release yet please? Also keen to see the rules. Thanks.

Is there a date for the Prussian infantry release yet please?

I just ordered my first dual-box selection as a sample purchase. Am anxious to see how my "1866" Prussians will fit.
