I want to put on some 15mm games of Aussies vs Taliban at the club. Now given that one club member served there and is still in the ADF Its kind of hard to find people who will play as the Talibs. Can anyone recommend some rules, even add on rules to preprogram the Taliban?? |

Ambush Alley plays insurgents quite well. |

Or just run it like an RPG, all players are Aussies and you run the insurgents as an umpire. |

I suspect you could deploy chits, or counters on the board to look for/discover, and to flip over to see what you encounter, e.g. nothing, civilians, armed Taliban, ambush, etc., etc.. For a bit of variety, you could come up with some charts, or cards to flip, to see their reactions, and/or the situation: 1. Civilians – are they friendly, neutral, hostile, secretive, unarmed, armed, etc.. Do they stay in place, move away, move towards you, etc., etc.. 2. Ambush – Option A – your pointman is good, and spots it before your entire unit walks into the zone. Place the "ambushers" on the table, and your section/squad of "ambushees" gets to fire on them first, for one round. Any survivors will get to return fire. Option B – your pointman and team spot the ambush at the same time they spot you – both sides fire/act simultaneously. Option C – your pointman is fatigued, so he doesn't spot the ambush, and he and your team incur one round of incoming fire, before you can respond in kind, assuming any of you survive. |

The Wessex Games rules 'Scudbusters' have some good 'reaction' tables to reflect 'shoot n scoot' to 'dig in for a last stand' op for activity…..although written for Iraq, I have used them as general reaction tables for insurgents from all over….. link |

Didn't the old Vietnam "Bodycount" rules work from the perspective that the layers were all on the same side, and the umpre looked after the VC? A similar approach might work here. |

As well as catering for solo/co-op play Two Hour Wargames' Chain Reaction 2015 contains PEF (Potential Enemy Force) rules which may help. Might be worth downloading them as a freebie on the THW website Regards Tonic |

Similar to "Bodycount", RAFM's "Charlie Company" handles the opposing force were run by the GM. It's set in Vietnam but it wouldn't be too hard to change them over. |

Another vote for Force on Force (formerly Ambush Alley). |

I've taken the RPG approach using FUBAR too. Bit awkward for solo play though! |

There is a freebie solo VC action rules option that i think is still in the files section of the Yahoo Vietgaming group. Could be easily adapted to any COIN or modern insurgency conflict. The option can be used in conjunction with almost any ruleset. And it is free! |

You can get the solo rules in chain reaction and the basic version is free. It's not insurgent specific, but it works very well. My games all include solo rules, but again, not insurgent specific. |

There's a flash game about the ill-fated 1993 Mogadishu mission as seen in Black Hawk Down. MNaybe it can serve as a source of inspiration. link |

Charlie Company. Vietnam specific, but shouldn't be difficult to update. |
