I loath writing this message but it's time to warn you about any business with Old Guard at this point. I ordered some painted minis in September and I am still waiting to receive them. Going on 5 months now. Figures were supposedly ready to send at Christmas but never were and no communication since then. I have asked for a refund or to have the figures sent but no response. I have used the service before for a big SYW project. Their painting is excellent but not very timely and at this point seemingly not at all…. Given the present situation, I would recommend that you use discretion in selecting this vendor to complete any projects. |

Is this the company in Kiev, Ukraine, or other? |

Sometimes a bit slow, used them for years dozens of orders. Always fine and top notch finish. Not ordered anything for a year or more though, unfortunately disconnected with miniatures. |

I'm told they are giving you a refund, as your package has not arrived. |

I have dealt with them for years and never had a problem. The mail can be slower to and from the Ukraine, but they do a good job. |

Ouch – a refund of minis and painting fee has got to hurt. Can one get insurance on international packages? |
ulahtonius | 09 Jan 2016 9:28 a.m. PST |
Unfortunately not for a small under 2kg package |

Sending it from the UK you could, fully insured and tracked services are offered by most national post offices so I'm surprised Ukraine doesn't offer it. |

From Bill's & ulahtonius's posts, it sounds like an update comment from the OP is overdue. |

Re postage options available from Ukraine, why on earth post a comment on something you manifestly know all about? C |

Just an update on my experience. Vladimir contacted me and was arranging for a refund. I just received that via PayPal. I appreciate his help in resolving the situation. |

Re postage options available from Ukraine, why on earth post a comment on something you manifestly know Bleeped text all about? C Since they were phrased as questions with that tell-tale "?" at the end, probably because people are curious as to what options they may have if they use this or a similar service. But maybe someone as learned as you in international shipping law, such matters are beneath inquiry to you. |

Your post had a "?" – and a totally reasonable question. Another one did not ….. But thank you for the sarcasm anyway – it avoids feeling inclined to apologise for any offence… |

I just wanted to chime in. I have used Old Guard Painting services for 6 mm Napoleonics for more than 8 years. Never had a problem and never seen anyone (including other painting services I have tried) paint to the same standard in this scale. I have ordered between 500 and 1000 figs on a regular basis each year and have never lost a parcel or a figure. Once I was dissatified with the aurora hue on some french guard cavalry (a colour that cause some dissention) they were all repainted without question. I have just received a new batch of Napoleonics and WW2, excellent quality as usual – and the disturbances there in Ukraine has not interfered with mail service to Denmark. |
