Hey guys, bear in mind our business has no association with this sale, or deal, but we are miniature painters, and this is easily the cheapest I have ever seen what are arguably the best paintbrushes in the world for miniature painting and wanted to pass along word of this find. Was too awesome a deal not to share. link |

So a couple of things to keep in mind with these brushes. They are very cheap, but shipping time, even with Prime, turns out to be pretty slow (March 9 delivery for me). I am guessing it is a foreign (to the CONUS) seller. |

Size 0,1,2,3---pretty big for miniatures "men" may be ok for vehicles |

Not so. These are my go to brushes, even for 15 mm. These brushes, when properly cared for, hold a great point, even through a marathon painting session AND multiple classes in Hobby U at the HMGS conventions. The point allows me to paint with great detail. And because I have more than 3 hairs on the handle, the paint doesn't dry on the brush between the pallet and the figure. |

Gotta agree with Random. These are bigger brushes. These aren't 000 or 00, but 0, 1, 2, and 3. A 1 is about the largest W/N Series 7 l use, even for horses and equipment. They do hold excellent points, tho…. |

I routinely paint eyes on 28mm miniatures with a #1 brush. I don't use anything smaller than a 0 even on my 15s. |
vtsaogames | 08 Jan 2016 11:47 a.m. PST |
I use a #1 brush for my 15mm figures, going larger for washes and dry brushing. Windsor Newton have such a great point I don't need smaller. |

Kraken's right. The Prime 2 day turns into two months when you place your order. Not a critical issue, since I've got plenty of brushes still in good shape. Nevertheless, these are brushes I've seen universally praised. They'll go in the rack next to my Army Painter brushes. |

Me also. I use 0, 1 and 2 for all my painting. I can't see any reason to be forever scratching away at figures with tiny brushes that don't hold any paint. If the brush is good quality it will hold a point. I paint 1/144 scale with a 0. |

I started off thinking all my WN Series 7 needed to be 3/0 or 2/0 but as I've gone along, virtually all my work gets done with a 0, 1 or 2 and I can certainly use a 3 now and then. I still have some 2/0 and 3/0 for very special things but 0 is my go to. |
abelp01 | 08 Jan 2016 1:27 p.m. PST |
Same here, 0, 1 & 2 size, anything smaller is a waste. I use my 1 for 10mm thru 28mm, 2 for 40mm & 54mm. I rarely use my 0, but occasionally it will be needed. Series 7 are the standard by which all other brushes are compared. I've used quite a few different brands of Kolinsky sables and nothing compares to them. |

Thanks for the tip, KSC! This IS a great deal for me as I mainly use 0,1 (a lot!), and 2. I got 2 sets. :-) The down side, other than the slow shipping, is once I was on Amazon, I couldn't help but order a couple books too! |
autos da fe | 08 Jan 2016 2:27 p.m. PST |
Finishing up faces is when I get out the WN 3/0 for me, but 90% of my work gets done with the 0. When I had a 1 and 2 I found them useful for early blocking and for larger pieces. I lost them in a move and didn't repurchase them. Glad to see this sale. Thanks so much for pointing it out. My only note of caution was I perceived that the WN's I was getting through DickBlick, when they had a spell of really great prices, were not as good as past batches. But for this price happy to take a gamble on one set. |

Order placed, thanks. I'm not in any hurry so whatever on the shipping date works for me. |
evilcartoonist | 08 Jan 2016 7:10 p.m. PST |
Ordered. (I have other brushes to last me the 3-month waiting time.) Thanks for the heads-up, Kraken! 0, 1, and 2 are the sizes I use most. And I'll use the 3 for watercolor painting I do outside of minis. This saves enough money that I can pick up a 00 or 000 individually later. |

It says $17.50 USD – that's so cheap it must be an error – going to the product listing says $75 USD – tempted to order just to see what happens …. John |
DyeHard | 09 Jan 2016 11:38 a.m. PST |
I placed an order with an added W&N Series 7 "00" and "000" to get the free shipping. It all processed just fine. Now the long wait. |

Here's a good place to get Kolinsky brushes in the U.S. for reasonable prices. kalishfinestbrushes.biz The brushes are made in Ireland; and as someone who worked for Blick for 2-decades and has seen some great brushes, and total crap brushes, I'll vouch that their brushes are good quality for the money. Don't let the sort of 1980s Geocities website scare you away from them, they're a reputable business. |
Bowman | 19 Jan 2016 7:11 a.m. PST |
What style of brush do you order for miniature painting, round, spotter, liner…..? And Kalish has a 0 Kolinsky for $5.60 USD? |

Sadly, I received the same email. If it sounds too good to be true… it probably isn't! |

+1 If you want inexpensive, high quality brushes try link They have excellent customer service and shipping to the states was fast and reasonably priced I have found their Kolinsky to be very close to W & N 7 in quality – have been using some for about a year. Their size 00 is about the same size as W & N size 0 I have no affiliation with the company John |

I personally am not impressed with my windsor and newton brushes. I find them too soft. Also, I got a 5 pack for $35.00 USD off ebay… way cheaper |

I bought mine here: link …£6 postage to USA (I live in UK but their site gives £, $ and euros) ….or choose the brushes you want as they're heavily discounted. |

Hmmm is the Kalish site down? I keep getting an error when I try do go. |
eptingmike | 13 Mar 2016 2:49 p.m. PST |
The site seemed to be up after a couple of tries but I attempted to place an order but the check-out wasn't functioning. I sent them an email and will pass on what I hear(my concern being that they may no longer be operating). |
eptingmike | 14 Mar 2016 1:30 p.m. PST |
All good. I think my browser, which is unable to update due to the age of my laptop, wasn't getting along with their site. Order placed! |

I am with JWebster on this – used W&N Series 7 but they got too expensive so switched to Rosemary Series 33 short handle about 8 years ago. Just as good as W&N S7's. These are getting a lot of good feedback in the UK handover.co.uk Series 33 & 66 brushes. |
