Does anyone knows any book covering the Uniforms of the Austrian army during those decades? Mostra of the sources I've seem jump from the Eugene of Savoy era to the army of Maria Theresa… |

Well what you need is the dates of changeover, so it depends just what you want it for. In your period the very early vs the Turks would have been WSS/Eugene uniforms and the WAS the MAria Theresa. |

I'm trying to get information about that period in order to have full information about the development of the XVIII century Austrian Uniforms. Some sources I know, such as the Xenophon page postes above, go as far as the 1720s, but I still haven't find much about the Uniforms worn during the War of Polish sucession and the 1730s… |

Looking thru "A History of the Austrian Army from Maria Theresa to the Present Day" recently published by Verlag Militaria GmbH, ISBN:978-3-902526-72-4 (English version), there are some illustrations from the 1720s thru the SYW at the front of first chapter. You might be able to find some books from the Berlin Zinnfugaren website specifically for the WPS period. I do recall seeing a couple (in German -not English) for that period on their shelves when visiting in November. Good Luck, Don, in your quest. Please share here what you discover as that is a very interesting period with very little to be found in English.(well, at least "I" have seen very little.) v/r Tom |

'Reiter, Husaren und Grenadiere' pub by Taschen about 1980 will have a lot of the info you need- if you can read German. It is a collection of illustrations of the Imperial Army on the Rhine in 1734, by Phillip Gudenus, an officer in that army. The text is by Dr Hans Bleckwenn, one of the foremost experts on c18 German uniforms. It has all sorts of interesting detail about the Austrian army uniforms in the 1730s, and lots of material on other German states too. You can still get copies on Amazon. |
