Great episode! Curious what everyone thought of that one. I tagged it "spoilers" so we can discuss it freely. |

My wife liked it. I was so tired that I went to bed. |

The fans comments on the Digital Spy TV Forum seem to be against it because the last half hour was a bit convoluted. They have all kinds of theories about it, but a lot appear to find it a product of the writers' self-indulgence. I did record it, but am now in two minds about watching it. |

Certainly the worst one in the Gatiss/Moffat series It was interesting to see the 66th Foot at Maiwand wearing Red tunics |

You could tell it was written by the guys writing Doctor Who at the moment ie overly convoluted. |

<<<SPOILERS>>>> I liked the twist of the solution to the Abominable Bride. It is never twins! Not so keen on switching back and forth between Modern and Victorian Sherlock. I am not a big fan of the modern setting. I think it should have been a pilot episode for a series set exclusively in the Victorian period. Moriarty deserved a kick-up the backside though! |

It was okay, I agree it got convoluted. I'm looking forward to the proper series. |

Victorian sections worked well…… jumping back to modern times, and assuming we all remember what happened several months ago was unnecssary and ruined it. Like you say, let anyone who writes for the modern Dr Who near it, and sense & simplicity go out the window! |

I enjoyed it – I though the Victorian ending could've been done better, but rather enjoyed the twisty plot, and as a fan of the series in general enjoyed theback and forth between timelines – the BBC rather helpfully repeated series 3 over the last month or so, meaning events were fresh in mind for me – I can see how it would be frustrating to watch going in "cold" though. Not sure I understand the comments against letting Dr Who writers near it – Sherlock has always been written by Gatiss and Moffat, so surely after three series and a good few years, everyone knew what they were getting…. |

Did not care for it. Sherlock did more 'solving' while under the influence of drugs than I liked. Cocaine and opiates don't make you smarter, they destroy you. I much prefer the US version of Sherlock Holmes called Elementary. Mark |

I would have prefrred a straight up separate timeline victorian Sherlock with Cumberbatch et al – did not like the time-warping |

I agree with Onomarchos much prefer Elementary – Sherlock is overhyped and overwritten but the critics seem to love it. |

The overly comical Mycroft and the psychotic Moriarty did hint that it wasn't a straight Victorian pastiche, but something weirder. The "solution" was about as stupid as the worst of Conan Doyle's originals. Still, I enjoyed it. It was fun, it was nice seeing Cumberbatch channel Jeremy Brett. But I will say that the Doctor Who Christmas Special (The Husbands of River Song) was better. |

I'm not a big fan of the new series but the episode was okay. |

I enjoyed the Victorian part until it became a feminist propaganda piece. The modern versions always make me feel ambivalent. |

Really enjoyed it. Excellent cast and acting too. Saw Cumberbatch in Warhorse the other day and enjoyed that too. martin

Actors did a great job as always but I was disappointed by the 'Dr. Who time tripping/travel' gimmick. The Suffragette reveal was a bit underwhelming too. I think the show ended up being convoluted, not clear or especially clever. Then again, I found the 3rd season disappointing as well. I suspect the writers are taking themselves a little too seriously. They forget elegant simplicity is the greatest genius |

Sherlock's feminist rant was way over the top. First, his character is strictly non-egalitarian so it was false in his mouth. And even if the writers thought it necessary, it could have been a quarter the length and achieved the plot resolution. As with the recent Dr Who episodes I find the extended nature of the preachiness tiresome. |

Liked it, the "reveal" was telegraphed as soon they'd visited Mycroft (aka Mr Creosote), but overall I thought it was fun :) |

I liked ~90% of it, but thought that the "secret society" bit was just silly – too silly to even be fun. I didn't find it too convoluted, but did feel a bit "robbed" by the conclusion. |

With you there – making them chanting hooded cultists seemed off-kilter to me. That was my only real gripe though. |

I did not, but then I'm neither a fan of Cumberbatch nor the handling of that series. Much more a Jeremy Brett / 1890's fan Ditto. |

Watched it…glad I did….don't feel the urge to do so again. Should either have gone full Victorian or full Modern setting the switching back and forth was off-putting to any attempt at following the plot. I love the Jeremy Brett series and Elementary, Sherlock just doesn't convince me I'm afraid. In conclusion I must applaud the finest performance in the entire piece…….Martin Freeman's moustache it really hung in there!! haha |
