Haven't seen anything new on bluemoon manufacturing's facebook page, website or indeed on the pages of tmp for quite a while. Anybody know anything? Hope Russ and Thersea are in good health and the business is still going strong

Regards
Stephen

Anybody know anything?

Why do people assume that a manufacturer must always be producing new stuff?

79thPA Supporting Member of TMP03 Jan 2016 11:52 a.m. PST

They certainly released a crap ton of Naps last year. Why would one think that things are not going well?

Ooh Rah03 Jan 2016 11:59 a.m. PST

Could be wrong, but I believe the last release from Blue Moon was in July, and it included a vast range of equipment.

TMP link

This range is also mentioned on the Blue Moon home page.

Also, Theresa's (aka MrsMiniatureships) last posting was just a few weeks ago. Doesn't sound like there are any problems with the business.

I'm looking forward to their release of 15NFT-120 Mounted Officers (French 1805-1806).

stephen phillip03 Jan 2016 11:59 a.m. PST

The answer lies within your question its what manufacturers do. Need an example? Their zulu range for instance 3 releases for zulus and 3 for british nothing else? Besides im just as concern for their wellbeing and the state of their business

Redcurrant03 Jan 2016 12:01 p.m. PST

Because interest in ranges wanes if new products do not appear from time to time. This stimulates the 'ooh shiney' response, and we buy them, often with extras from the original range.

If we have bought the entire range then we go onto other projects.

Why do people assume that a manufacturer must always be producing new stuff?

Not an assumption, just a reasonable question based on all the products labeled "Coming Soon" on their web site. They have been promising the Russian Jaegers in 1805 uniform for a year now. That's all I need to finish an army.

doug redshirt03 Jan 2016 1:16 p.m. PST

There are large gaps still in the 7yw range also.

rct7500103 Jan 2016 2:11 p.m. PST

and a few codes left for the ACW – would love to see them completed.

But I think they have been announcing new stuff pretty regularly so I would suggest sit on hands and we will all be happy.

MajorB03 Jan 2016 3:32 p.m. PST

Besides I'm just as conceredn for their wellbeing and the state of their business

The best way to keep a business in business is to buy their products.

Early morning writer03 Jan 2016 5:07 p.m. PST

go ahead and add up the next ten, yes, ten most prolific releasing manufacturers over the last three years – and see how far behind all ten together are behind Blue Moon. (wait, is that fair – to the others?!) : )

stephen phillip03 Jan 2016 10:22 p.m. PST

The best way to keep a business in business is for the business to advertise their products and update their media outlets. Nethier their two business modes of communication (facebook and their website) have been updated for months nor has there been any recent communication or updates of their plans advertise on tmp. The last post that i found on this website was there was a problem emailing them. Why would i buy from a company that doesnt regularly advertise their wares? Maybe my original question was worded wrong maybe i should of asked if anyone has had any recent dealings with bluemoon or not?

Early morning writer04 Jan 2016 12:22 a.m. PST

At least three of the four principles of Old Glory and Blue Moon have posted here on TMP in the last couple of weeks. So, they are certainly active and if you really want to contact them, just do it. Both Blue Moon and Old Glory 25s have active websites where you can go and buy there products. So, what is the real complaint? Yeah, I'd like to see updates on their web pages, too. But considering the pace of releases from them the last half dozen years, they deserve a break – both figuratively as well as literally. Besides, haven't they recently had things up on the front pages? I'm pretty sure that counts as advertising. I think there is an agenda here not being revealed.

Yeah, I'm a fan but only a customer and not without frustrations but that is my challenge – not theirs. They've made me and a lot of gamers pretty danged happy with their MASSIVE releases – and made possible periods that couldn't be done in 15 mm. So, cut them some slack.

LeonAdler Sponsoring Member of TMP04 Jan 2016 12:28 a.m. PST

The best way to keep a business in business is to produce really good stuff at a reasonable price and deliver it to a customer efficently. If you judge a companies quality by whether its Twatter, Facebook etc feed is minute by minute up to date it kinda explains why so much really bad stuff is popular out there, style over content. All that puff tells you is that a firm has a marketing department or they have too much time on their hands. I havent produced anything Napoleonic since August because Ive been busy with other things.

Hafen von Schlockenberg04 Jan 2016 12:32 a.m. PST

Russ certainly seems determined to reclaim a large share of the 15mm field Old Glory dominated in the 90s,so I wouldn't be too concerned.

That said,I've learned not to hold my breath. As I posted elsewhere,I'm still waiting for the 25mm Napoleonic Spanish and Portuguese that were "coming soon" over ten years ago.

stephen phillip04 Jan 2016 2:37 a.m. PST

There neither a compliant nor an agenda merely stating no update on their facebook page since the 5th of august and still advertising histcons on their webpage that is all. Other companies update their communications and advertising on a regularly bases regardless whether they are busy or not. All im trying to find out whether anyone has information about what stage bluemoon is with their plans etc for the new year. There's really no need to get all defensive and see fish hooks were there is none

stephen phillip04 Jan 2016 7:04 a.m. PST

Leon as a business owner who uses electronic media as a method of advertising your products one would assume that you would update your website or advertise on tmp on a reguarly bases otherwise no one would know what you have for sale. At any stage have i said or indeed expect manufacturers to advertise every today? No. But its simple economics sense to advertise on a regular bases or if you dont your business dies a slow death

MajorB04 Jan 2016 7:43 a.m. PST

one would assume that you would update your website

No point in updating a website if nothing has changed.

But it's simple economic sense to advertise on a regular basis or if you don't your business dies a slow death

There are more (and better?) ways to advertise then here on TMP.

stephen phillip04 Jan 2016 8:04 a.m. PST

But your target market/ potential buyers are on this forum that's the point. Sure you can advertise in hobby magazines etc but at what price? You have a world wide market on here than you would advertising in a gaming mag that has a limited localised subcription. My local book/magazine shop doesnt stock wargame mags therefore i rely on the internet for my hobby news

MajorB04 Jan 2016 9:06 a.m. PST

But your target market/ potential buyers are on this forum that's the point.

All of them? I know TMP is popular, but …

a gaming mag that has a limited localised subscription.

The major gaming magazines are distributed internationally.

My local book/magazine shop doesn't stock wargame mags

Neither does mine. You see, there are these things called subscriptions …

Hafen von Schlockenberg04 Jan 2016 9:46 a.m. PST

Hey, I just had an idea: why doesn't somebody email Russ, and ask him if he's still alive?

JD Lee04 Jan 2016 10:20 a.m. PST

I just ordered and received some Blue Moon stuff from Old Glory 25's and spoke to Connie via email on the weekend.

Hafen von Schlockenberg04 Jan 2016 10:27 a.m. PST

See? That wasn't so hard, was it?

stephen phillip04 Jan 2016 10:31 a.m. PST

However major b its all very suggesting subcribing to an overseas magazine but its not much point if your favourite company dont use this form of media to advertise their products? And beside theres the cost of the magazine, exchange rate, shipping cost, time to consider whereas i can readily access infomation via the internet

MajorB04 Jan 2016 10:55 a.m. PST

However Major B it's all very well suggesting subscribing to an overseas magazine but it's not much point if your favourite company don't use this form of media to advertise their products?

I guess from where you are ALL the hobby magazines are overseas … However, the point is not whether you subscribe or not but whether the manufacturers advertise in them or not. Without the advertisements, the hobby magazines would die in short order. It is clearly worth their while to advertise in the hobby magazines otherwise they would not do so. And if you don't subscribe to any, how do you know whether "your favourite company" advertises in them or not? As for shipping costs etc. at least one of the major magazines is now available in electronic format.

And to think we used to complain when our orders to Britain didnt arrive within 6 months.

Old Glory Sponsoring Member of TMP04 Jan 2016 1:39 p.m. PST

Hi Guys -- back in the office after the holidays.
Thank you all for the concerns --at least I know there are people who want more Blue moon.
here's the truth -- last year we fell woefully behind -- the reason you ask? -- we had an opportunity to do a lot of "outside contract" work with sculpting and mold making and the money was just to good to leave on the table -- I know that may not make you all that happy but it is the truth -- and from our prespective MONEY must be part of the equation.
The good news is that we should get back on track this year and begin to release nice big piles of goodies. In fact, just looked through the pattern shop and there is a reasonable pile of mini's in the line for mold making right now.
For a good part of December the factory looks mostly deserted with vacations and all and now all the guys are slowly beginning to stumble and stagger back in to the job -- this can only be good. I know you guys will understand that even mold makers, caster, sculptors, shippers, web people, soldier moguls etc get vacations, holiday time, have families, etc. to attend to?
Hope you guys all had a great Christmas and we all have a great 2016!
Regards

War In 15MM04 Jan 2016 1:46 p.m. PST

A couple friends and I belong to the Old Glory Army. Two weeks ago we submitted an order, and I was called this morning the friend to whom our orders are sent and told that the order arrived today. Obviously, someone is taking orders, packing them and shipping them. I have been buying stuff from Russ since the days when he owned Old Glory 15s, and I have always felt well served though email contact is not always consistent. Sometimes I hear back immediately (within a day); other emails go unanswered… not sure why. All that said, Blue Moon 15mm-18mm made my childhood dream come true when they put out their huge FIW range of figures and buildings, so if some things are a little slow, I can live with that. Yes, there was always someone here during the holidays -- just a skeleton crew though -- at night that made it very spooky!!!

@stephen phillip:
So you see, as numerous correspondents tried to tell you, your fears were totally unfounded. A quiet website or FB page does NOT necessarily mean a company is going under!

MrsMiniatureships Sponsoring Member of TMP04 Jan 2016 4:15 p.m. PST

Thought I'd add a note too, looking back we have had about 10 news releases with new product from July until now. I am in process of getting the first of the Dutchy of Warsaw figures ready for photographing along with a few more of some of the other minor nations….so, it won't be long and there will be more ads up for you.

Teresa
(I'd put the links up for you but I'm not very good and finding old news stories on TMP…I just looked back into my records.)

Thanks Teresa!!

Just as an aside- if any of you guys ever get the chance to visit the Old Glory factory I highly recommend it. It's a great time and very illuminating. It's also a much easier way to peruse their entire line code by code than at the Dealer Hall table.

doug redshirt04 Jan 2016 6:21 p.m. PST

Are we going to get anything else besides Napoleonics? I know they pay the bills, but some of us are not into that war.

Old Glory Sponsoring Member of TMP04 Jan 2016 11:56 p.m. PST

Like I said -- we did get behind -- even on napoleonics. Have alot of ranges we need to finish\add to. Would still like to get to ECW and boxer rebellion? There are some nice surprises already in the works?
Regards
Russ Dunaway

Hafen von Schlockenberg05 Jan 2016 9:02 a.m. PST

Yes,Russ, like the 25mm First Afghan War?
But whoever has heard of Afghanistan?

War In 15MM05 Jan 2016 9:08 a.m. PST

I'm really looking forward to the release of the Boxer Rebellion! Richard

JD Lee05 Jan 2016 9:48 a.m. PST

Boxer Rebellion buildings would be great!
Maybe he Tarter Wall?

Jcfrog05 Jan 2016 9:56 a.m. PST

The skeleton crew might need a towel when drinking beer.

Old Glory Sponsoring Member of TMP05 Jan 2016 11:27 a.m. PST

When we do finally get to the boxer rebellion it will include the legations and the great wall --- the wall will be done in foam.

Tom D105 Jan 2016 11:52 a.m. PST

I wasn't worried. Got Ft. Zinderneuf for Christmas and it came in less then a week. A few dead legionaires to place on the walls might be good, though!

Russ, can you give me a call. Jeff Cohen. I would like to talk with you about Little Wars.

I keep hoping they will get to the minor Napoleonics cavalry sets.

And suddenly, as if by magic…

Duc de Limbourg11 Jan 2016 11:53 p.m. PST

Minor nations napoleonics is fine, but don't forget the "normal" armies eg the french in campaign, leger skirmishing etc etc

Eclipsing Binaries13 Jan 2016 3:39 a.m. PST

That's another new release today. They must have seen this thread.
