AKA, the pointy bit on the end above the flag…

Was this always yellow metal (gold0, or did it differ by the regiment's metal/officers' lace color? That is, did regiments with yellow metal buttons have brass finials on their flag poles, whilst those with white metal would have white metal point bits? Or were they uniformly yellow metal, which my limited resources seem to suggest?

Also, as I understand it, the tassels, etc., were mixed gold and crimson by warrant, so this would be independent of the finial?

Obviously I'm a bit out of my depth here.

As far as I am aware, as with today, they were all gilt matching the crimson and gold cords and tassels. Certainly that is how I paint mine.
