"The only major conflict of Lord Dunmore's War, the battle of Point Pleasant was fought between Virginian militia and American Indians from the Shawnee and Mingo tribes. Following increased tensions and a series of incidents between the American settlers and the natives, Dunmore, the last colonial governor of Virginia, and Colonel Andrew Lewis led two armies against the tribes. On October 10, 1774 Lewis and his men resisted a fierce attack, led by Shawnee chief Keigh-tugh-qua, or Cornstalk, at Point Pleasant, near the mouth of the Kanawha river. Despite significant losses on both sides, Lewis succeeded in forcing the Shawnee to retreat back to their settlements in the Scioto Valley. In the aftermath of the battle the Treaty of Camp Charlotte was signed in attempt to secure peace in the region and ultimately opened up Kentucky for American settlement. Illustrated with photographs, detailed maps and bird's-eye-views, this title brings to life one of the most significant pre-Revolutionary conflicts between American settlers and the native tribes."

I have this book and recommend it. The artwork is very good as are the maps of the battle. You also get a good overview of the campaign. |

John F. Winkler and Peter Dennis have written and illustrated a series of books for Osprey covering the major battles for the Ohio country, the Old Northwest Frontier, including Point Pleasant, Wabash/St. Clair's Defeat, Fallen Timbers, and I believe one on Tippecanoe is forthcoming. I have read the first three, and they're excellent. I have read several accounts of Point Pleasant, visited the battlefield, constructed a wargame scenario and run several games of the battle. This book gave me additional valuable insight. |

Hey Zippy! Could you zip me a copy of that scenario? It looks right up the alley for my AWI/TSATF mashups. |

I should have this title on Tuesday. I recommend all the Ospreys by John F. Winkler and Peter Dennis . So far I have read the titles on The Wabash, Fallen Timbers, and I just finished Tippancanoe. I'm hoping we'll someday have a book on Horseshoe Bend. |

Scenario is dispatched, Winnie. Has the Tippecanoe book been released, then? My FLGS was supposed to put a copy on hold for me. I'll have to get after them. Yes, I'll be pleased if Winkler and Dennis cover more subjects. Horseshoe Bend would be great. The Thames? Fort Dearborn? Bad Axe? |

Tippecanoe has been out for a couple of weeks or so. The usual fantastic level of detail. The Battle of the Thames would be the next logical choice. It would have three battles that William Henry Harrison participated in. As aide-de-camp at Fallen Timbers and general at Tippecanoe and The Thames. You also have Tecumseh as a brave at Fallen Timbers and the war chief at The Thames. |

River Raisin to The Thames? Cover Tecumseh and the Indian participation in the War of 1812 in Michigan and Ontario. |

And yet Osprey still can not be bothered to do a book on Minden. |
