Hi guys First post of the year, so HAPPY NEW YEAR!! everyone. For the WWII era I used to be a static modeller only, and I have built up a pretty good collection of display models, however I have been stung by the WWII war gaming bug. I moved house a few months ago and have only unpacked my display models today, (it has taken so long because I don't really have a good place to display them) anyway, what a sorry sight they are, I packed them pretty good, but most have some damage, usually small, a broken barrel or machine gun, some worse (don't ask me about my German command vehicles with frame antennae, you don't want to know) and covered in a layer of dust, so they need work. With all that in mind, and the fact I don't have enough room for display models and war gaming models I have decided to combine the 2 interests by removing all the display bases, cleaning and fixing the models and mounting them on more war gaming friendly bases. The only problem I see is that some of the tracks are pretty firmly attached and the bases are even essential to holding some of the tracks together (thinking of the terrible thick vinyl tracks of Fujimi and Airfix) I will use this opportunity to build my long thought about Kampfgruppen Danl (inspired by Panzerfaust200 excellent KG Wotan guildwargamers.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=104&t=10500 ) its a good start, this way I have 30 odd vehicle straight off the bat. As I want to use these in my KG, should I think about repainting them for some unity (the display models are from many different units and fronts) or should I go with the theme of a KG that's been hastily thrown together from different units? I might remove them from their bases and see how they look together. For infantry I will use a mix of AB and Battlefield. More pics of the display models on their bases can be found under my 1/72 WWII armour label here gunnerswargamming.blogspot.com.au/search/label/1%2F72%20WWII%20Armor, but here are some examples

Nice. How do you put shurzen on? I was working on a Mk IV – put the shurzen on the turret. It looked good but won't rotate, so I obviously did something wrong. |

Hi idontbelievit, not sure really, just followed the instructions, I guess lots of dry fitting and patience helps. Hi guys Have removed the vehicles from their bases, added in some WIP vehicles and taken a group shot, this will be about half the size of the finished KG, I need to add a heap of 251 variants, some 222s, some more Stug IIIs and Hetzers, and more soft skins, not to mention the grunts and artillery. But you start getting an idea of the size. So what about the paint job? just do touch ups, or repaint the whole lot? I want to repaint the KT (never liked that paint job) and the yellow Pz III for sure, the plain yellow Tiger will be added to some D.A.K vehicles and the Pz grey vehicles will be the start of a smaller early war KG, so they will keep their paint jobs, but I think all the rest sort of fit in with each other, obviously the unpainted stuff will be painted up to standard, and will add some more unity to the finished group. Hi guys First off for my KG I will work on the Panzer recon company, it will be smaller than company size but bigger than a platoon, at this stage I have 1 x 250/1 (Italeri) 1 x 250/3 (Italeri) 2 x 250/9 (1 x S models conversion and 1 Italeri conversion) 1 x 250/10 (Italeri) 1 x 253 (S models) 1 x 234/3 (Hase) 2 x 222 (Airfix) 1 x 251/22 (Hase) 1 x 251/9 (Hase) 1 x 232 (Roden) I want to add to that list a box of 3 PSC 250s, I will make 1 x 250/8, 1 x 250/11 and a 250/1 out of those, I also want a couple of Hase Puma's. * The 232 (grey one at the back) got a bit broken in the move, I will need to fix her up and do some touch up painting, I will be leaving this one grey and she will be used in a smaller early war version of my KG. * The 234/3 will keep her paint, no damage to this one, I need to think of a way to get rid of the "Wiking"emblem and need to re add the commander figure. * The 250/10, front row left will get some work done, need to lower the front wheels, add a rear MG mount, and give her a re paint. * The 253 will be painted, probably wont see any game time, just got it for fun. * the 250/1, I really need to get a couple more of these, I will get at least 1 PSC one and maybe another Italeri one. * The 250/3 will have a Pz grey interior and a dark yellow, green and brown cammo, figure this is an old vehicle from the grey days who has been field painted, I imagine this command vehicle stays a little further back from direct enemy contact (not much though) so has lasted longer than the other company vehicles, I will make this one a little dio with the company commander and a couple of other soldiers discussing their plans (pic below) * the 2 x 250/9s, the painted one, if I remember correctly, is an Italeri conversion (even though they actually make a 250/9) I think I used a Fujimi 222 turret, she has some damage from the move, I will fix her up, but will probably leave her paint job as she is not to bad, the other 250/9 is converted from the spare 253 (s models come 2 to a box) with an Airfix 222 turret, unfortunately she is shorter than the Italeri model and doesn't really look right, I may add a plasticard plate for the turret to sit on, add grenade screens, and raise the base (these will all be based for wargaming) so she sits at the same height as the Italeri vehicle. Hi guys I don't get a lot of personal hobby time, so this will be slow progress, I will concentrate on these 3 vehicles first, hoping to get the vehicle interiors base coated and figures under coated today, I have given the 2 outside figures a head tilt change and added some equipment to the man on the right, so they are all looking in the one direction. Hi guys A bit out of practice with the airbrush, so didn't get the camo as tight as I wanted, but I'm lazy, so it will have to do, did the command vehicle with a lighter tone to represent an earlier vehicle, its interior is Pz grey, so a much earlier survivor that's had a field repaint, hopefully the weathering will cover any mistakes in the spray job, all C&C welcome. for anyone interested, I learnt something new about the 250/3 on this build, the antennae mounts were natural wood, apparently the lead in the paint affected grounding of the antennae so they were not painted, many modellers don't know this as most models I have seen are painted. |

Hi guys These 3 vehicles are almost done, just need to source/make a couple of crewman for the other 2 250s, pretty happy with these, next up 2 x 250/9s and a 253, all C&C welcome. More pic here link
