I went ahead and bought the inexpensive 1st edition of FiveCore as well as two of the VERY inexpensive supplements. THIS is the game I have been looking for. That I have been waiting for. After just one good solid reading, this game makes so much sense that I am mad at myself for waiting this long to buy it. I am DEFINITELY buying the two sci-fi expansions for it as well as the updated 2nd edition rules with my next check. If you want a game covering WWII to science-fiction using 5-10 models per side, I can't recommend this highly enough. Sock Puppet disclaimer: I am in no way associated with Nordic Weasel, and my only association with Ivan is here on TMP. |

Amen! Welcome to the club. I've been playing since July 2014, and I think I've played around 100 skirmish and company-level games with them. I look forward to some batreps. V/R, Jack |

Spartan – what kind of gaming are you looking for? |

I bought Five Core Version 1. Really couldn't pass up the price. Looks short and sweet in style! |

Thanks! I kept V1 online after doing V2, since it's a nice intro to the system, without spending much :) |

Weasel, Initially hoping to introduce our group to the rules. WW2 probably four player game with 5 or 6 figures each side. Likely no vehicles. Normandy based. After getting to grips with the rules will probably go the route of a campaign;) Is there anything specific to guide solo play? Pretty wide remit;) Thanks, Mike |

In Five Core V1 there is a page and a third of info regarding solo gaming. Think I need to buy some figures … lol! |

You get solo advice yeah, in both versions. It's not a full "AI" system, more like a set of tools to help you, but FiveCore is super popular for solo gaming, so must work okay :) |

Ordered some figures … Gripping Beast MoFo, 12 packs for 10 Xmas sale, apparently still going, and being sold with bases for free. Militia (7 packs), Mercs (2 packs), Govt (1 pack), Brit SAS & Argentine Commandos (1 pack each) … 48 figures and postage $81.50 USD, which is 1.70 each. Sweet deal. Planning to use these to start a late 20th century imagi-nations project at some point. And give FiveCore a try. |

Gamespoet – That sounds like a pretty solid deal for 20th century anything-goes. |

The milita packs mirror Gripping Beast's African Militia deal, and I'll have plenty of options for two different local factions, including splitting the warlord & body guards into two leaders with individual bodyguards, and another pack that has two figures that could serve as additional body guards if needed. Meanwhile, the Commandos will serve as "advisors" from a country attempting to become an upwardly mobile power supporting their trading partner, the local faction that is in power. Meanwhile, the SAS will serve as a once old world colonial power supporting the local rebel faction. Naturally the Mercs can be thrown in where ever they're needed. And of course the Govt pack gives additional options for other characters. The good part is I can always pick up more African figures from Gripping Beast or maybe elsewhere, and perhaps even start a third local faction of some kind with whatever other figures are chosen. Also, there are plenty of additional options with Gripping Beast's Brit and Argentine figures to possibly expand the supporting, off-continent powers. |
