Got some of the new 2d Afghan War figures from Artizan. They look so good bare,I almost hate to slop paint on them.

Alas Artizan does not have any Gurkha figures or cavalry of any type.

Any views on what manufacturers figures would best match the Artizan figures in general? Not planning for any intermix within units.

I have AD & OG25's in my NWF army, but the sculpting styles are different enough that I won't put them into the same units, but I like the OG25 NWF range and their cavalry is very nice.

TMP3, I agree OG NWF range is one of their best and could work with Artizan figures in separate units. if you can wait a little longer, Gurkhas are supposed to be among the next releases from Artizan, and their most recent pack includes a figure of Billy Fish, the Gurkha character from "The Man Who Would Be King".

Re: cavalry, I would suggest you also consider using the Perry Sudan British & Indian cavalry figures, which include 10th Hussars dressed & equipped the same as they were in Afghanistan, British lancers in uniforms very close to those worn by the 9th Lancers in Afghanistan, and Sikh and Muslim Bengal Lancers, whose empty right hands can easily be filled with replacement swords in place of lances to turn them into Guides or other sword-armed Indian cavalry. I used "light cavalry sabers" from the Dayton Painting Consortium for this purpose.

Another way to go for British 9th Lancers would be the Empress Zulu War 17th Lancer figures, which are alsoery nice and IMHO would not look out of scale side by side with units of the Artizan infantry figures.

Thanks to both. I have salivated a bit looking at the Perry and Empress figures. Had not thought of OG25's, so a lead I'll follow-up on.

This is the link to OG25's Corp of Guides cavalry (they have it labeled Guiders Cavalry, weird I know):

This photo doesn't do them justice! I have them on the table for next week and I'll post a photo when I paint them up. I like them as they're not charging or wielding any weapons.

I have just ordered some Artizan Punjabis as well as some Old Glory "Indian Infantry". I plan to use both as Bengal Native Infantry but won't mix them in the units. I am planning however on using the Artizan Sikh officers as officers in a unit composed of Foundry Sikh figures. Yes the officers are a bit bigger but I for some reason can excuse that as they are officers. In the past all I had were Foundry and OG figures for my colonials. The Old Glory Indian troops are quite nice with some good action poses. They also don't have bayonets which tend to break off as a unit sees ore and more active service.

I use Artizan, Old Glory and Foundry for the NW Frontier and they look fine on the table if not necessarily in the same units.

I'm with Big Red on this. I have all 3 on my table. I think they look fine together, IMHO.
