Shane and I met up and played a couple of games over the Christmas break. Game #1 was Russians vs Prussians (no pictures) and our second game was French vs Austrians. We had not played since our 16/18 June 2015 Waterloo fight, it was good to get the figures on the table and roll dice.

We played a 2,000 point battle. Shane took the Austrians and rolled to attack, I had the French and set up a defense anchored on a farm in the center of my line.

I left my right flank open and covered by a light cavalry brigade.

Shane massed two strong Austrian brigades against the French held hill on the left, he deployed his Dragoons opposite the French light cavalry on the right.

His attack made progress for the first 2-3 turns. I deployed my artillery and rushed my reserves to help defend the hill position.

The Austrians took the hill and bloodied one French Brigade, but the two batteries and French reserves turned back the Austrian assault.

Shane tried a cavalry assault on the French right, but the French cavalry reserve arrived in time to deploy past the woods to eliminate that threat. The French line held and won a 2-1 victory in 6 turns.

Another enjoyable game! Figures are 15mm Old Glory and part of my collection.

Our group uses the NAW rules too. One of these days I have to remount a bunch of my figures to use as skirmishers.
