Just before Christmas we ran the last playtest of the year for the wee chariot game I've been working on, Bread and Circuses. This game was a simple twice-round-the-basic-track race with six competitors. Feel free to take a look. :) link |

Great report for a test game. Would you consider options for the fans to riot if their team losses, such as occurred during the Byzantine period? |

Cheers. As it stands, fans run onto the track if people really mess up their dice rolls, or if the charioteers choose to incite the mob. What sort of impact would a post-race riot have on a campaign? |

Cool, will it be possible to have chariots all from one period but still have their own individuality? So something where you could really get into a Byzantine era campaign with factions? I think in a campaign, a post-race riot might see horses or drivers hurt or killed, maybe winnings disappear in the confusion. Maybe the emperor bans racing for a while till the streets calm down. There was a fictional Byzantium in the two-part fantasy series "Sailing to Sarantium" by Guy Gavriel Kay that had some good chariot/factions intrigue in it. |

Boy wundyr, there are currently six classes (standard, agile, archer, fast, heavy and scythed) that can be chosen. How you apply the class is up to you. You could certainly play with chariots from a single period -say all Roman. Just suggest the teams are trained differently and make one chariot 'standard', one 'fast', another 'agile', and a fourth 'heavy'. The current race circuit/campaign allows for skulduggery, but works more on prestige than actual monetary winnings. |
