Here I present You list of 1:72 / 20 mm pulp & weird world war 2 figures. Maybe useful also for 1:72 / 20 mm fantasy, VBCW and sci-fi.

I will update this list reguarly.

I hope You will help me to complete this list.

If there is any producer/manufacturer, which I forget, please forgive me and inform us about Your figures.

Pulp and WWW2 in 20 mm? But why not the more popular 28mm scale? What are the reasons?

1. Collection of not-purely-pulpish figures and terrains.
If you already have a lot of figures, vehicles (cars, tanks, trains, ships) and terrains (houses, forests, roads and the like) suitable for colonial/WW1/interwar/WW2 in 20 mm / 1: 72, it is an absurd to start collecting all of those in the completely new scale.

2. Price.
20 mm is cheaper. Figures are cheaper many times. Also terrain is cheaper. For example, trains in 20 mm is several times cheaper and much easier to find than trains in 28 mm. The same with model cars. Non-wargaming models suitable for 28 mm at ebay is very expensive due to more demand. And it is nice to have true horde of opponents against our heroes.

3. Volume.
Platoon of 28 mm figures takes so much space as 20 mm company. Especially relevant in the case of terrains. It's easier to keep terrains, because in 20 mm it occupies several times less volume. In the trunk of a car you can carry the entire city.

4. Mapping
The table can cover the whole town, not just the intersection. It is easier for a more realistic ranges. Tactical situations can be more interesting. Combat of squads is more realistic than single soldiers. You can put on the table several vehicles, and it does not look like a parade ground. You can deploy the entire railway station and play a scenario of a moving train. One tank wont dominate whole table.

5. Completeness
Pulp figures at 20 mm are quite rare than in 28 mm, so you can afford to have them ALL . OCD will not ruin your budget.

6. Weight.
28 mm metal figurines are relatively heavy – solid shelves are recommended. 20 mm mostly plastic figures are relatively light, thus it is easier to move and transport the sets. You wont get a hernia carrying whole set.

7. Experience.
In 20 mm you can rely on washes; masses of opponents You can even dip (with f.ex. Army Painter QuickShade). 28 mm figurines are differently paint, you need to use a lot of highlights (and other advanced painting techniques) to get a good results. If You already know how to paint 20 mm, maybe it is a good idea to keep with it?

8. Speed of paint
It is arguable, but judging after my experience and results of others, painting one 28 mm figure takes as much as whole squad od 20 mm figures. I admit, it is not so important in pulp skirmish like Pulp Alley. Afterall it is Yours aesthetic decision, whether several 28 mm figures make more visual impact than horde /company of 20 mm.

Early War Miniatures makes some cool stuff in metal that is appropriate for Pulp. Irregular is also worth taking a look at. You might find something useful in IT's figures, which are now produced by RH Models. I am not sure if Raventhorpe is still in business, but that had a few pieces of interest as well.

That's extremely helpful. Thank you!

Stupid me. Of course. How I could forget about my favourite producer: Early War Miniatures. Added. (Their US Army in Mexico range is brilliant, very pulpish. I wish they finally expand their British Army 1914 range with Lewis LMG team, HMG and artillery crew, so we could use them as Chinese Warlord Army/Federal Mexico Army).

Others already were on the list, just go down. :)

X-Mas Italians that make good 'marines' or sailors with their berets…

Good idea, thanks. Added.

Your welcome. Happy to help. :)

And BTW, Elhiem had a sale for a next several days. ;)

Thanks for the correction; I always have a brain fart about where IT is at now.

Yes, it looks like I didn't scroll down the page far enough. The list is very helpful.

I agree with your list of reasons to go with 20mm. I have started collecting Cold War as well as a Congo project in 20mm. I will at some time go back and touch up my old 20mm WW2 collection as well as my terrain.

I just have to finish off painting my 28mm Lead pile first!!

You can get loads of cheap Lledo cars on ebay quite cheaply – very useful for pulp scenarios.

Great list umpapa.

The Tuaregs (moderns) and Mehalla (early 20th century) are Force20.

Force20 (from TableTopScale.com) and SGMM (from sgmm.biz) are two different ranges. Elheim Figures used to handle the SGMM range… now has all the Force20 ranges. In fact Elheim is the sole supplier of Force20 while they are going through a biz re-organization.
