My FLGS received the following code this week from Warlord "Mon 18 Apr WG-BP009 Glory Hallelujah!' – American Civil War supplement for Black Powder £20.00 GBP $32.00 USD"

From the link:

I really hope its of a larger size and more like Pike and Shotte as the period deserves real attention – im certainly prepared to pay more for more info and detail.

I doubt it will be a larger book that repeats the basic rules of the game as Pike and Shotte was. It'll be more like the already existing expansion books for Black Powder, like Blood on the Nile, Albion Triumphant, etc.

I'm looking forward to it as well as the English Civil War book.

So will one need the core rules then to go with this release?

Has there been a release date set yet?

Private Matter09 Mar 2016 2:58 p.m. PST

The advertisement on the back cover of the latest issue of Wargames Soldiers & Strategy says that "Glory Hallelujah!" is a "supplement" for Black Powder so it doesn't appear to be a stand alone game. It appears it will be released soon.

The core BP rules will probably be needed, as with most (if not all) WL supplements. Pike & Shotte is not really a supplement btw, but a standalone ruleset using the BP engine.

No official release date for this book yet afaik, just a "teaser" in the latest newsletter. Looking forward to it though.

Its available now on pre order with a release date of around mid April . I don't know why they just don't quote the SALUTE show date as that is the date I am hearing at the moment.

The Author put up some worthwhile information on the book content on the Warlord Forum.

link

Not sure why this was not included in the official "Preview" on the Warlord site?

link

Here is the authors description:

"You ask "What's in there?" Well, "Glory, Hallelujah!" includes:

• Historical background and the course of the war
• Uniform info
• Organisation and doctrine – or how the armies fought
• Twenty army lists covering all the major campaign theatres throughout the war
• A further twelve lists covering specific formations and brigades – the good, the bad and the downright ugly!
• Special characteristics for the more famous – and infamous – commanders
• A host of optional rules covering the terrain, weapons, troop types, forts as well as riverine and naval support
• Ten selected scenarios – both the interesting and the historical
• Plus much more … and masses of Grey and Blue American eye candy!

So whether you're a Billy Yank or a Johnny Reb I hope that you'll enjoy "Glory, Hallelujah!" "

Overall looks very promising.

Yes, you will need the core Black Powder rules as this is just a supplement. I own two other BP supplements: "Rebellion" (AWI) and "Zulu". The Supplements are done third party, so content all depends on the chosen author. "Rebellon" is superb just as a historical reference book and provides plenty of well thought out scenarios. On the other hand unfortunately "Zulu" is just so so.

My hope is that the ACW supplements measures up to the AWI standard. Based on the information finally released by the author it looks like we are headed in the right direction.

I have just started reading this and it appears the artillery is in batteries of 4 and 6 guns for the listed units but can't find confirmation in the unit sizes bit. Can anyone confirm that this is the case?
