I'm doing something for my daughter ( currently in ARA) as a present so I am looking for suggested paints for modern Aussie camouflage. I know it a green, tan and black but what shades would be the best, Cheers Jon |

Clothes and gear fade pretty quick. Been in ranks with everyone supposedly issued the same stuff and saw a dozen different shades of the same green. So just go with what looks closest to your reference pictures. |

Exactly what James says, too many people witter on about the wrong shade of this and that. We used to see who could get their olive green trousers faded to almost white before being forced to exchange them. Sprogs (rookies) in every army like to fade their kit to look like they're old timers. Go with what you think looks good. |

Thanks chaps, will do. When I was in AReS we had plain green so not sure how the DPU looked. Cheers Jon |

Just remembered that Gunner Dunbar has put some modern Aussies on here and on his blog link His figures are excellent, ask him nicely and he might share his recipe with you. |

James and Jon are right, mate, colours can be all over the shop after a hard year ( or even one EX). But for a rough guide, using Humbrol paints as a guide, look at 118 or 119 for the brown, 155 for the LOD and black. Instead of using grey7 or white, lighten them off with a cream or sand colour, mate. Any particular vehicle you're looking at? These sites may be of help, as well: perthmilitarymodelling.com aussiemodeller.com.au Cheers. Dal. |
